Immunofluorescence analysis of sensory nerve endings in the periarticular tissue of the human elbow joint.
To investigate the dynamic aspects of elbow stability, we aimed to analyze sensory nerve endings in the ligaments and the capsule of elbow joints. ⋯ The high density of free nerve endings in the joint capsule indicates that it has pronounced nociceptive functions. Joint position sense is mainly detected by the RCL, AUCL, PUCL, and the PJC. Proprioceptive control of the elbow joint is mainly monitored by the joint capsule and the UCL, respectively. However, the extreme range of motion is primarily controlled by the RCL mediated by Golgi-like endings.

Predictors of and predictive nomogram for cut-out of proximal femur nail anti-rotation device in intertrochanteric fractures.
This study determined independent predictors and developed a predictive nomogram for failed correction of intertrochanteric fractures due to cut-out of the proximal femur nail anti-rotation (PFNA) device. ⋯ A reliable predictive nomogram was developed for cut-out of the PFNA in intertrochanteric fractures, based on BMI, quality of reduction, blade position, and TAD.

Delay of total joint replacement is associated with a higher 90-day revision rate and increased postoperative complications.
Delay of elective surgeries, such as total joint replacement (TJR), is a common procedure in the current pandemic. In trauma surgery, postponement is associated with increased complication rates. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of postponement on surgical revision rates and postoperative complications after elective TJR. ⋯ Level III-retrospective cohort study.

Long-term analysis of chronic pain associated with lower extremity injuries.
The main objective of this study is to examine chronic pain and limping in relation to lower extremity and pelvic fracture location in addition to fracture combinations if multiple fractures are present on the same leg that have not been previously reported. We hypothesize that fracture pattern and location of lower extremity and pelvis fractures of multiple injured patients influence their long-term pain outcome. ⋯ In multiple injured patients with lower extremity injuries, the combination of fractures and their location are critical factors in long-term outcome. Patients with chronic persistent or load-dependent pain often had underlying femoral shaft fractures in combination with joint fractures.

Screw placement in arthroscopically assisted osteosynthesis of radial head fractures using a reference k-wire in the radiocapitellar joint: a cadaveric study.
The optimal screw placement in arthroscopically assisted fixation of radial head fractures is still an issue and no guiding methods have been evaluated in the recent literature. The study hypothesis was that using a "reference k-wire" percutaneously inserted in and parallel to the radiocapitellar joint would enable to achieve a trajectory more parallel to the radial head articular surface as compared to a free-hand k-wire placement. ⋯ IV, biomechanical cadaver study.
