Radiological long-term follow-up up to 12 years of initially ultrasound unstable hip types D, III and IV after treatment with the Tübingen splint worn as a plaster.
The treatment of ultrasound unstable hips with the Tübingen splint is currently under discussion. However, there is a lack of long-term follow-up data. This study presents to the best of our knowledge first radiological mid-term to long-term data of the successful initial treatment with the Tübingen splint of ultrasound unstable hips. ⋯ The Tübingen splint as alternative to replace a plaster has proven a successful therapeutic option for ultrasound unstable hips type D, III and IV with favorable and over time improving radiological parameter up to the age of 12 years.

The optimal diagnostic cut-off of WBC and PMN counts for joint aspiration in periprosthetic joint infection is 2479/µL and 67%, respectively: ICM criteria thresholds are too high.
Various organizations have published definitions for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) with significant differences in the cut-offs of white blood cell (WBC) count and polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocyte cells. Herein, we aim to analyze optimal cut-offs in patients which are planned to undergo a prosthesis revision and compare them with the actual published thresholds of the International Consensus Meeting (ICM) and European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS). ⋯ II.

Clinical impact of microbiological results in two-stage revision arthroplasty with spacer exchange.
Patients who require a spacer exchange as part of a two-stage procedure for the treatment of periprosthetic hip and knee joint infections (PJI) have high failure rates. Little is known about the clinical impact of microbiological results and changes in the microbiological spectrum and resistance pattern in these patients. ⋯ Changes in microbiological spectrum and antibiotic resistance patterns between stages are common in patients who require a spacer exchange. If eradication of the microorganism at reimplantation can be accomplished, comparable re-revision rates to standard two-stage procedures can be achieved.

Clinical TrialModified surgical anchor refixation in older patients with acute proximal hamstring rupture: clinical outcome, patient satisfaction and muscle strength.
After conventional surgical refixation of the hamstrings after proximal hamstring rupture, patients frequently experience pain while sitting and deficits in hamstring muscle strength of the operated side. Coronal extrusion of the lateral meniscus does not increase after pullout repair of the posterior root of the lateral meniscus at short-term follow-up.
Posterior lateral meniscus root (PLMR) tears are injuries that commonly occur together with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcome of PLMR repair accompanying ACL reconstruction. Specifically, PLMR healing rates, meniscal extrusion behavior and their influence on patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) were analyzed. It was hypothesized that PLMR repair shows satisfactory healing rates and coronal meniscal extrusion does not increase significantly following PLMR repair. ⋯ Retrospective Case Series; IV.
