Mid-term outcomes of revision hip arthroplasty due to titanium modular neck failure.
The current strategy for modular neck failures in total hip arthroplasty (THA) is calibrated on CrCo neck failures. Stem revision is usually required, but the procedure is challenging and achieves modest outcomes (up to 20% of re-revisions at short-term). No study reports revision strategies and outcomes after Ti neck failures. Aims of the study were to evaluate: (1) demographic and implant features of the cohort to be revised, (2) intra-operative findings and surgical revision strategies and (3) clinical and radiological post-revision outcomes. ⋯ Level IV, retrospective case series.

ACL reconstruction provides superior stability than ACL repair in patients with Schenck III and IV knee joint dislocations: first results of a 12 month follow-up study.
Acute knee dislocation is a rare but devastating multi-ligamentous knee injury with only limited evidence-based surgical technique recommendations. The aim of this study was a comparison of two different anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) restoration techniques as part of an early total surgical care concept: (1) repair of ACL with additional internal bracing (ACLIB) compared to; (2) ACL reconstruction with autograft (ACLR). ⋯ Retrospective cohort study, III.

Short- to mid-term results of minimally invasive lateral unicompartmental knee replacement: 133 cases in a non-designer series.
The aim of the current study was to demonstrate short- to mid-term survivorship as well as clinical outcome of lateral unicompartmental knee replacement (UKR) with a fixed-bearing (FB) design from a non-designer center using the Oxford Fixed Lateral prosthesis. ⋯ Retrospective cohort study, level IV.

Mini-open vs. arthroscopic double tight-rope reconstruction after acute AC-joint dislocation: a comparison in functional outcome and sports activity.
In athletes, acromioclavicular joint disruptions account for up to 50% of all shoulder injuries. In high-grade injuries, surgery is favored to ensure a correct restoration of the joint, especially in young athletes. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical, radiological and sport related outcomes of the arthroscopic stabilization with the fixation of the AC joint in a mini-open approach. ⋯ Both techniques prove to be effective for the stabilization of high-grade AC-joint disruptions in athletes and showed excellent clinical results. From a radiographic standpoint, the mini-open procedure appears superior to the arthroscopic technique. After mini-open surgery postoperative loss of correction is less common and greater horizontal stability is achieved. The results also suggest the mini-open technique is superior to the arthroscopic procedure when aiming to restore the athlete's original level of sports activity.

Hypoalbuminemia increases the risk of failure following one-stage septic revision for periprosthetic joint infection.
Malnutrition is a potentially modifiable risk factor of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of nutritional status as a risk factor for failure after one- stage revision hip or knee arthroplasty for PJI. ⋯ TLC, hemoglobin; WBC count; glucose levels; and malnutrition, understood as the combination of albumin and TLC, were not found to be statically significant risk factors for failure after single-stage revision for PJI. However, albumin < 3.5 g/dL, alone was a statically significant risk factor for failure after single-stage revision for PJI. As hypoalbuminemia seems to influence the failure rate, it is advisable to measure albumin levels in preoperative workups.
