Minimally invasive arthroscopy-assisted arthrodesis for thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.
Arthrodesis is a reliable surgical procedure for treatment of thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) osteoarthritis that provides hand strength and pain relief. Locking plate fixation is a common technique that provides rigid fixation and a high rate of bone union; however, it requires extensive surgical exploration of the first metacarpal and trapezium. Here, we report the surgical outcome of minimally invasive arthroscopy-assisted thumb CMC arthrodesis that preserves soft tissue supplying the blood flow to the bones. ⋯ Arthroscopy-assisted arthrodesis is a valuable procedure for thumb CMC osteoarthritis. However, the learning curve for this procedure must be overcome before the operative time can be shortened and successful bone union and satisfactory outcomes achieved.

Suprapatellar intramedullary nail combined with screw fixation has comparable surgical outcomes to minimally invasive locking plate fixation in ipsilateral tibial plateau and shaft fractures.
To compare union rate, union time, alignment, and complication rate in ipsilateral tibia plateau and shaft fractures treated via suprapatellar intramedullary nailing with screw fixation and minimally invasive locking plate fixation. ⋯ Level III.

Radiographic evaluation of radial flexion osteotomy effect on static scapholunate instability: a preliminary cadaveric study.
The optimal treatment of chronic scapholunate instability has yet to be established. Scapholunate ligament grafts are still far from being the ideal solution. We conducted an experimental study to evaluate whether flexion-opening wedge osteotomy of the distal radius improves misalignment and avoids rotatory subluxation of the scaphoid in a cadaveric model of static scapholunate dissociative instability. ⋯ Flexion-addition osteotomy of the distal radius appears to improve carpal alignment parameters in a cadaveric model of static scapholunate instability, achieving similar values to those obtained before instability.

Review Meta AnalysisThe impact of retaining the femoral stem in revision total hip arthroplasty: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression.
The management of well-fixed femoral stems in revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) remains a subject of debate, with concerns over potential complications arising from stem retention. This study aimed to investigate the re-revision rates due to aseptic loosening of the stem, overall re-revision rates, dislocation rates, and factors influencing these outcomes in rTHA with a retained well-fixed femoral stem. ⋯ CRD42022351157.

Review Meta AnalysisThe efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid utilization in total ankle arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
There is still a lack of information on the role of Tranexamic acid (TXA) in total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). The purpose of this study is to comprehensively review, consolidate, and analyze findings from existing research on the effectiveness and safety of TXA in TAA. ⋯ Level III, systematic review and meta-analysis.
