Case ReportsBilateral ST-coalition with thumb hypoplasia and scaphoid synchondrosis.
Carpal coalitions are rare wrist anomalies and are most often diagnosed incidentally. Due to their infrequent occurrence, there is a lack of treatment guidelines in the literature. We present a case study of a 13-year-old boy who presented with symptomatic synchondrosis in both scaphoids along with a bilateral osseous coalition between the scaphoid and trapezium bones in combination with bilateral thumb hypoplasia. We initiated a 10-week immobilization of the wrist, followed by gradual increasing weight-bearing. ⋯ For young patients, we suggest initiating conservative treatment as the first option. A precise analysis of the pathology and wrist kinematics is mandatory to recommend further therapy especially if operative interventions might be considered.

The radiographic evaluation of novel cementless anatomic polyethylene (PE) glenoid components featuring a titanium-coated back is still unclear. This study explores potential radiolucent lines (RLL) between the radiopaque titanium layer and sclerotic convex reamed bone in an intermodal comparison analysis with computed tomography (CT) scans. ⋯ Level III Treatment Study.

Sport and sexual recovery after total hip arthroplasty in young adults: a retrospective cohort study.
Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) is the main treatment for end-stage degenerative hip arthrosis in the elderly, while became increasingly performed as treatment of secondary arthrosis in younger patients, a population at high functional requests in terms of resumption of physical activity and resumption of sexual activity. This study evaluates the physical, sports recovery and the sexual quality of life in young patients undergoing primary THA. ⋯ Primary THA surgery in young adults can improve the level of physical activity and promote the involvement of subjects in moderate impact sports. Patients showed a better quality of sexual life compared to the preoperative period, an effect more evident in female patients.

Predictive and classification capabilities of the timed up and go as a physical performance measure in hip osteoarthritis: a retrospective study of 606 patients.
Hip osteoarthritis (OA) is a common joint pathology that significantly constrains functional capacity. Assessing the impact of hip OA on functionality is crucial for research and clinical practices. The study aimed to assess hip OA patients' functionality using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and to evaluate its diagnostic ability to differentiate between different grades of hip OA. We hypothesized that the severity of hip OA would impact the time required to complete the TUG test. ⋯ This study provides evidence that the duration of the TUG test significantly increased with the severity of the disease. TUG can offer real-time data on the management and progression of hip OA. Future studies should explore the correlation between hip OA and the TUG test, as understanding the relationship can influence treatment and patient outcomes.

What are the age-related factors linked to aseptic revisions in constrained and unconstrained TKA as well as UKA? A register-based study from the German arthroplasty registry (EPRD).
The implantation rate of total knee arthroplasties (TKA) is continuously growing. Aseptic problems are a major cause of revision. The aim of the following study was to determinate the incidence of aseptic revisions in primary knee arthroplasty as well as aseptic revision rates and influencing factors according to the patients' age and type of procedure. ⋯ III, cohort study.
