Multicenter Study Comparative StudyIntraoperative blood pressure changes during cemented versus uncemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fracture: a multi-center cohort study : The effect of bone cement for bipolar hemiarthroplasty in elderly patients.
The purpose of this study was to compare the cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty with uncemented about the change of intraoperative blood pressure and the incidence of major complications in elderly patients with femoral neck fracture. ⋯ Intraoperative blood pressure did not change during cemented and uncemented bipolar hemiarthrplasty for displaced femoral neck fracture. If the standard modern cement technique was performed during operation, bone cement is a safe and acceptable for elderly patients who have a lot of medical histories.

Multicenter StudyThe burden of rotator cuff surgery in Italy: a nationwide registry study.
This study aimed to estimate the yearly number of RC surgeries in Italy, a country with universal access to healthcare for its population, from 2001 to 2014, based on official information source as hospitalization records. A secondary aim was to explore geographical variation in equity in access to RC surgery between three macroregions of Italy (North, Center and South). A tertiary aim was to perform statistical projections of the number of RC procedure volumes and rates on the basis of data from 2001 to 2014. Finally, we aimed to perform a prediction of charges by 2025 to examine the economic impact of RC surgery. ⋯ II.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEvaluating the potential synergistic benefit of a realignment brace on patients receiving exercise therapy for patellofemoral pain syndrome: a randomized clinical trial.
It has been previously shown that exercise programs for patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) can be supported by medially directed taping. Evidence supporting the use of patellar braces is limited because previous studies have been low quality. The aim of this study is to compare the outcomes of patients with PFPS after treatment with a medially directed patellar realignment brace and supervised exercise. ⋯ The use of a medially directed realignment brace leads to better outcomes in patients with PFPS than exercise alone after 6 and 12 weeks of treatment. After 1 year of follow-up this positive effect diminished.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyCartilage repair surgery for full-thickness defects of the knee in Germany: indications and epidemiological data from the German Cartilage Registry (KnorpelRegister DGOU).
Treatment of cartilage defects of the knee remains an important issue with high relevance. In October 2013 the German Cartilage Registry (KnorpelRegister DGOU) was initiated in order to study indications, epidemiology and (clinical) outcome of different cartilage repair techniques. The present evaluation of the registry baseline data was initiated to report common practices of cartilage repair surgery in Germany. ⋯ The present analysis of data from the German Cartilage Registry shows that the vast majority of cartilage repair procedures were applied in degenerative, non-traumatic cartilage defects. Experts in Germany seem to follow the national and international guidelines in terms that bone marrow stimulation is applied in smaller cartilage defects while cell-based therapies are used for the treatment of larger cartilage defects. In patellar cartilage defects a trend towards the use of cell-based therapies has been observed.
