Incidence, location and classification of glenoid labrum meniscoid folds.
The purpose of the present study was to arthroscopically investigate the incidence and location of labral meniscoid folds of the shoulder joint, as well as to classify them into types and detect any possible correlation with gender, side and age of patients. ⋯ Meniscoid folds are quite common in shoulder joint. Labral meniscoid folds are located more often at an anterosuperior position of shoulder joints and their incidence tends to be higher in older patients, while in male ones they are located in a more anterior position in comparison to female patients where they are located more superiorly.

Patch-augmented rotator cuff repair: influence of the patch fixation technique on primary biomechanical stability.
There is an ongoing debate about the potential of patch augmentation to improve biomechanical stability and healing associated with rotator cuff repair. The biomechanical properties of three different patch-augmented rotator cuff repair techniques were assessed in vitro and compared with a standard repair. Dermal collagen patch augmentation may increase the primary stability and strength of the repaired tendon in vitro, depending on the technique used for patch application. ⋯ Additional patch augmentation with a collagen patch influences the biomechanical properties of a rotator cuff repair in a cadaveric sheep model. Primary repair stability can be significantly improved depending on the augmentation technique.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyNo significant difference in clinical outcome and knee stability between patellar tendon and semitendinosus tendon in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
ACL reconstruction with either patellar tendon or semitendinosus tendon autografts are standard procedures. Between these two grafts might be differences in stability, morbidity, or long-term changes. This study investigates outcomes of ACL reconstruction with patellar tendon versus semitendinosus tendon autografts. We hypothesize no significant differences in clinical outcome and knee stability between both groups. ⋯ Both, patellar tendon and semitendinosus tendon are safe autografts for ACL reconstruction. Regarding graft selection, individual patient-dependent factors should be considered. ACL reconstruction cannot fully restore pre-injury status of knee joint function in the majority of cases.

ReviewVascular complications in plating of the proximal femur: review.
Plating of the proximal femur represents a standard fixation method in orthopedic and trauma surgery. Vascular lesions are uncommon but potentially life-threatening. With the increasing number of hip surgery also more of these complications have to be anticipated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the most common types and locations of vascular lesions after plating of the proximal femur as well as the most important causes. ⋯ Vascular compromise in plate osteosynthesis of the proximal femur affects significantly more often the DFA system and represents most often PA. As the majority of cases revealed iatrogenic origin, a thorough surgical technique and awareness can help to avoid these complications.
