Comparative StudySurgical management for thoracic spinal tuberculosis in the elderly: posterior only versus combined posterior and anterior approaches.
To compare the clinical outcomes of surgical management by posterior only and combined posterior and anterior approaches for thoracic spinal tuberculosis in the elderly. ⋯ Our study showed that the posterior approach only procedure obtained better clinical outcomes than combined posterior and anterior surgeries. It might be a better surgical treatment for thoracic spinal tuberculosis in aged patients with poor health status, especially for cases in early phase of bone destruction and/or mild and moderate kyphosis.

Cementless second-generation hydroxyapatite CaP-coated tibial component: an 8.7-year follow-up.
This is the first study that reports on the mid-term results of 81 patients suffering from arthritis of the knee, treated with a cementless second-generation hydroxyapatite calcium phosphate (CaP)-coated tibial component. ⋯ These findings indicate that the uncemented second-generation hydroxyapatite CaP-coated tibial component performed well at mid-term follow-up, and provides sufficiently stable bone ingrowth fixation.

The appearance of the 8-plate as a method for hemiepiphysiodesis has renewed the interest for the use of this technique. However, many questions remain unanswered about the way of action of the guided growth method. Although screw length has been said to play no role, to our knowledge, no clinical or experimental evidence exists. ⋯ The 8-plate has shown to be more efficient in producing angular deformity than staples. However, the length of the screw has showed no role in the 8-plate function.

Clinical and MRI results after microfracture of osteochondral lesions of the talus.
Arthroscopic microfracture (AM) of osteochondral lesions of the talus is used to induce intrinsic refilling of the defect and reduce pain. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the clinical state after AM and the MRI outcome. ⋯ After AM of osteochondral lesions of the talus, 18 of 22 patients had no or mild, occasional pain at 2 years follow-up. On MRI, the lesion volume had been reduced and filling with repair tissue was found.

The effect of labeling photo documents in wrist arthroscopies on intra- and interobserver reliability.
The reproducibility of diagnoses based on photo documents in wrist arthroscopies is limited and is expected to improve if the photos are labeled with illustrated structures. ⋯ Labeling simplifies but does not necessarily improve the reproducibility of photo documents in wrist arthroscopies. To display the cartilage status and the integrity of the SL ligament, digital photo documents should be labeled with the illustrated structure or joint surface.
