Orthopedic surgeon perspectives on appropriate referral of trauma patients to physical therapy (PT).
To evaluate orthopedic surgeon referral of trauma patients to PT. ⋯ There are potential differences in the referral practices of orthopedists of varying levels of experience. Although outcome is viewed as positive following PT, it appears that many orthopedists view a prescribed home exercise program as an acceptable equivalent to formalized PT in the setting of orthopedic trauma. Future research should be directed at determining indicators for formalized PT.

Multilingual cross-cultural adaptation of the patient-rated wrist evaluation (PRWE) into Czech, French, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Ukrainian.
The use of patient-reported outcome questionnaires is recommended in studies of the orthopaedic field. Reliable, validated tools are necessary to ensure the comparability of results across different studies, centers, and countries. The patient-rated wrist evaluation (PRWE) is a widely accepted and commonly used outcome measure in the self-evaluation after distal radius fractures. ⋯ PRWE versions were achieved without any substantive difficulty in all seven languages. Cross-cultural adaptation aims "to attain semantic, idiomatic, experiential and conceptual equivalence between the source and target questionnaires". The present paper provides such adaptation of the PRWE in seven different languages, making this tool available for an additional nearly half a billion potential users.

Biomechanical consequences of a posterior root tear of the lateral meniscus: stabilizing effect of the meniscofemoral ligament.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of different types of lateral meniscus root tears in terms of tibiofemoral contact stress. ⋯ Posterior lateral meniscus root tear might have a better prognosis in terms of the development of osteoarthritis when the meniscofemoral ligament is intact.

Predicting patient satisfaction using the Oxford knee score: where do we draw the line?
The aim of this study was to identify threshold values in the pre- and post-operative Oxford knee score (OKS), and change in the score for differing levels of patient satisfaction with their total knee replacement (TKR). ⋯ The threshold values, we have identified for the different levels of satisfaction using the post-operative OKS, which is the most accurate predictor, can be used to predict level of patient satisfaction and give quantification of the OKS.

Review Case ReportsBifocal disruption of the knee extensor mechanism: a case report and literature review.
Bifocal disruption of the knee extensor mechanism is a rare injury. Bifocal proximal and distal avulsion fracture of the patella tendon is extremely rare in adults. Here, the authors report the case of an 84-year-old male patient who developed simultaneous avulsion fracture of the patella tendon from the inferior pole of the patella and the tibial tuberosity. Open reduction and internal fixation were performed, and at 12 months postoperatively, an excellent functional result was obtained.
