Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyOnabotulinumtoxinA for chronic migraine: efficacy, safety, and tolerability in patients who received all five treatment cycles in the PREEMPT clinical program.
Chronic migraine (CM) is a prevalent and disabling neurological disorder. Phase III REsearch Evaluating Migraine Prophylaxis Therapy (PREEMPT) clinical program assessed efficacy and safety of onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX(®)) for prophylaxis of headaches in adults with CM. This secondary analysis assessed patients who received all five treatment cycles and completed the study. ⋯ This subgroup analysis demonstrated improvements with onabotulinumtoxinA treatment (five cycles) vs placebo (two cycles)/onabotulinumtoxinA (three cycles) for multiple headache symptom measures and suggests that at Week 56, patients treated earlier with onabotulinumtoxinA had better outcomes. These findings demonstrate the continued need and cumulative benefit over time with continued prophylaxis, an important and clinically pragmatic observation for clinicians and patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPerampanel Study 207: long-term open-label evaluation in patients with epilepsy.
Evaluate interim long-term tolerability, safety and efficacy of adjunctive perampanel, a novel α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-5-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA)-receptor antagonist, in patients with refractory partial-onset seizures. ⋯ Long-term - up to 4 years - adjunctive perampanel had a favourable tolerability profile in patients with refractory partial-onset seizures. Improvements in seizure control were maintained with long-term treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEffect of early interferon beta-1a therapy on conversion to multiple sclerosis in Iranian patients with a first demyelinating event.
A new treatment approach to multiple sclerosis (MS) is the initiation of interferon therapy in the early phase of the disease when a patient presents with clinically isolated syndrome. ⋯ The results of our study, which are consistent with those from western studies, show that treatment at an early stage of MS delays conversion to definite MS and has positive effects on MRI outcomes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyLong-term safety and tolerability of oxcarbazepine in painful diabetic neuropathy.
Painful diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes and often resistant to treatment with standard analgesics. Treatment of diabetic neuropathy with antiepileptic drugs may provide pain relief. ⋯ Long-term treatment with oxcarbazepine is generally well tolerated in patients with painful diabetic neuropathy. Rapid titration of oxcarbazepine may be responsible for discontinuations resulting from AEs during early stages of treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA randomized, placebo-controlled study of oxcarbazepine in painful diabetic neuropathy.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of oxcarbazepine (1200 mg/day) in patients with painful diabetic neuropathy in a multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 16-week study. ⋯ In this study, no statistically significant difference in therapeutic effect was observed between oxcarbazepine (1200 mg/day) and placebo. However, further studies are necessary to assess the effective dose range of oxcarbazepine in the treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy.
