Meta AnalysisCannabidiol in conjunction with clobazam: analysis of four randomized controlled trials.
To assess the efficacy and safety profile of add-on cannabidiol (CBD) in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome (DS) on clobazam and in the overall population of four randomized, controlled phase 3 trials. ⋯ Add-on CBD was effective in reducing seizures in the overall populations and in conjunction with clobazam. Somnolence and sedation occurred more frequently in patients on CBD and clobazam.

Meta AnalysisCannabidiol efficacy independent of clobazam: Meta-analysis of four randomized controlled trials.
The efficacy of cannabidiol (CBD) with and without concomitant clobazam (CLB) was evaluated in stratified analyses of four large randomized controlled trials, two in Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, and two in Dravet syndrome. ⋯ These results indicate CBD is efficacious with and without CLB, but do not exclude the possibility of a synergistic effect associated with the combination of agents. The safety and tolerability profile of CBD without CLB show a lower rate of certain AEs than with CLB.

Meta AnalysisTime course of 75%-100% efficacy response of adjunctive brivaracetam.
Time to sustained seizure frequency reduction can provide clinically meaningful epilepsy outcomes. ⋯ The majority of patients achieving 75%-100% sustained seizure frequency reduction (all focal seizure types and the subpopulation with FBTCS) with oral BRV (100 or 200 mg/d) achieved this response on the first-treatment day.

Review Meta AnalysisPrehospital stroke scales and large vessel occlusion: A systematic review.
Time sensitivity for pharmacological and mechanical arterial recanalization in acute ischemic stroke influences the choice of the reference hospital. The accurate selection and identification of patients with high probability of a large vessel occlusion (LVO) in the prehospital setting improve the rationalization of the transport in the more suitable centers. Aim of this analysis was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of prehospital stroke scales detecting LVO. ⋯ This meta-analysis suggests that some prehospital scoring systems including cortical signs showed better accuracy to predict stroke due to LVO. However, the assessment of these signs could be difficult to investigate by paramedics and personnel of Emergency Medical Services, and for this reason, further prospective evaluations are needed.

Review Meta AnalysisParkinson's disease and risk of mortality: meta-analysis and systematic review.
To evaluate the existing prospective observational studies on the morality risk among Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and determine the overall risk ratio (RR) of mortality by conducting a meta-analysis and systematic review. Original articles published in English were searched in PubMed and Embase databases prior to March 2013. Only prospective observational studies providing adjusted risk estimates related to PD and future mortality were considered eligible. ⋯ PD patients with dementia had particularly high mortality risks (RR = 3.78; 95% CI: 2.06-6.92). This meta-analysis indicated that among patients with PD, the all-cause mortality increased by 2.22-fold compared with the general population. PD patients with dementia particularly had higher risks of mortality.
