We report three cases of stroke in association with peripheral venous interventions that each included foam ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy (UGS). All three female patients experienced a right middle cerebral artery (MCA) stroke causing dysphasia and left hemiparesis. A patent foramen ovale was found in each patient. ⋯ No specific cause could be confirmed in this patient. Sodium tetradecyl sulphate foam was used in all three cases (3%, 16 mL; 1.5%, 4 mL and 3%, 25 mL, respectively). All three patients recovered completely within a few days.

Visual disturbances (VDs) are reported with an average rate of 1.4% after foam sclerotherapy (FS). Some clinical clues indicate that they could correspond to migraine with aura (MA). ⋯ These results show that VDs occurring after FS correspond to MA and are not transient ischaemic cerebro-vascular events. We suggest a pathophysiological hypothesis resting on the release of endothelin that would reach the cerebral cortex through a paten foramen ovale.

Is low compression pressure able to improve venous pumping function in patients with venous insufficiency?
A too high resting pressure of compression devices is poorly tolerated and may cause skin defects, especially in patients with concomitant arterial occlusive disease. ⋯ In patients with venous pumping failure, inelastic bandages produce a significant pressure-dependent increase of EF. A significant improvement in venous pumping function was achieved with inelastic bandages even at a resting pressure of 20 mmHg.

Post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is a complication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) characterized by chronic pain, swelling and heaviness, and may result in ulceration. Elastic compression stockings (ECS) worn daily after DVT appear to reduce the incidence and severity of PTS. The aims of our study were to investigate practices and perceptions of DVT patients and physicians regarding the use of ECS after DVT. ⋯ Our findings suggest that there is a lack of consensus among doctors regarding ECS use after DVT and widespread education regarding the latest evidence of the benefit of ECS after DVT.
