Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialA comparative study of the safety of 0.25% levobupivacaine and 0.25% racemic bupivacaine for paracervical block in the first stage of labor.
The objective of the study was to evaluate and compare the safety of levobupivacaine and racemic bupivacaine for paracervical block (PCB) in the first stage of labor after uncomplicated pregnancy. ⋯ No difference in cardiotocographic pathology was found between PCB with levobupivacaine compared with PCB with racemic bupivacaine. The incidence of bradycardia was low. PCB was found to be a safe pain-relief method for low-risk parturients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialThe effect of placental removal method and site of uterine repair on postcesarean endometritis and operative blood loss.
Our purpose was to determine whether blood loss during cesarean section and postoperative endometritis rate were associated with the method of placental removal and site of uterine repair. ⋯ Manual removal of the placenta at cesarean delivery results in more operative blood loss and a higher incidence of postcesarean endometritis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialA pilot-randomized comparison of sublingual misoprostol with syntometrine on the blood loss in third stage of labor.
To compare sublingual misoprostol with intravenous syntometrine use during third stage of labor by measuring the blood loss. ⋯ The use of sublingual misoprostol or intravenous syntometrine in spontaneous vaginal delivery resulted in a comparable amount of blood loss. Transient side effect such as fever and shivering which resolved within a day occurred more frequent to those who received sublingual misoprostol.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialPreoperative transcervical analgesia for laparoscopic sterilization with Filshie clips. A double blind randomized trial.
To evaluate the use of preoperative transcervical analgesia for reducing postoperative pain from laparoscopic sterilization with Filshie clips. ⋯ Preoperative transcervical perfusion of the uterus, fallopian tubes and into the pelvis did not reduce postoperative pain or request for analgesics after laparoscopic sterilization with Filshie clips.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialJoel-Cohen or Pfannenstiel incision at cesarean delivery: does it make a difference?
To evaluate whether the technique to open the abdomen might influence the operative time and the maternal and neonatal outcome. ⋯ The Joel-Cohen method of opening the abdomen at cesarean delivery is faster then the Pfannenstiel technique at delivering the fetus. However, considering the absence of benefits to the mother and the fetus there is no clear indication for performing a Joel-Cohen incision.
