Meta AnalysisRole of prenatal magnetic resonance imaging in fetuses with isolated agenesis of corpus callosum in the era of fetal neurosonography: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Corpus callosum agenesis (ACC) is frequently diagnosed during fetal life; its prognosis depends also on additional anomalies. The additional value of fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in fetuses with "isolated" complete (cACC) and partial (pACC) agenesis of the corpus callosum on ultrasound is still debated. ⋯ The rate of associated anomalies detected exclusively at fetal MRI in isolated ACC undergoing neurosonography is lower than previously reported. Cortical and posterior fossa anomalies are among the most common anomalies detected exclusively at MRI, thus confirming the crucial role of fetal MRI in determining the prognosis of these fetuses. However, some anomalies still go undetected prenatally and this should be stressed during parental counseling.

Meta AnalysisPerinatal outcomes of twin pregnancies affected by early twin-twin transfusion syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is associated with a high risk of perinatal mortality and morbidity if not treated. However, the optimal timing and management in case of early (occurring < 18 weeks) TTTS has not been established yet. ⋯ Twin pregnancies affected by early TTTS are at substantial risk of perinatal mortality and morbidity; however, the data come from very small studies with a high risk of selection bias.

Review Meta AnalysisDiagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging in detecting the severity of abnormal invasive placenta: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Accurate prenatal diagnosis of abnormally invasive placenta (AIP) is fundamental because it significantly reduces maternal morbidities. ⋯ Prenatal MRI has an excellent diagnostic accuracy in identifying the depth and the topography of placental invasion. However, these findings come mainly from studies in which MRI was performed as a secondary imaging tool in women already screened for AIP on ultrasound and might not reflect its actual diagnostic performance in detecting the severity of these disorders.

Review Meta AnalysisExercise during pregnancy and risk of gestational hypertensive disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Gestational hypertensive disorders, including gestational hypertension and preeclampsia, are one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of exercise during pregnancy on the risk of gestational hypertensive disorders. ⋯ Aerobic exercise for about 30-60 min two to seven times per week during pregnancy, as compared with being more sedentary, is associated with a significantly reduced risk of gestational hypertensive disorders overall, gestational hypertension, and cesarean delivery.

Review Meta AnalysisIntravenous fluid rate for reduction of cesarean delivery rate in nulliparous women: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine have emphasized the need to promote vaginal delivery and have offered recommendations to safely prevent primary cesarean delivery. However, there has been limited discussion regarding management of intravenous fluids and other aspects of labor management that may influence mode of delivery. Therefore the aim of our study was to determine whether an intravenous fluid rate of 250 vs. 125 mL/h is associated with a difference in cesarean delivery rate. ⋯ Our findings provide evidence that the duration of labor in low-risk nulliparous women may be shortened by a policy of intravenous fluids at a rate of 250 mL/h rather than 125 mL/h. A rate of 250 mL/h seems to be associated with a reduction in the incidence of cesarean delivery compared to 125 mL/h. The number needed to treat to prevent one cesarean delivery is 18 women. Our data support increased hydration among nulliparous women in labor when oral intake is restricted. Further study is needed regarding risks and benefits of increased hydration among women with unrestricted oral intake, those undergoing induction of labor, and those with medical comorbidities.
