[123I]FP-CIT (DaTscan) SPECT brain imaging in patients with suspected parkinsonian syndromes.
To review [(123)I]FP-CIT (Ioflupane I 123, DaTscan) SPECT imaging and its role in clinical practice. ⋯ [(123)I]FP-CIT SPECT brain imaging is used to assist in the evaluation of adult patients with suspected PS and may help differentiate ET from PS as an adjunct to other diagnostic evaluations.

Transcranial Doppler (TCD) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) are two noninvasive diagnostic tools that have been shown to evaluate cerebral vasomotor reactivity by measuring changes in mean cerebral blood flow velocities (MCBFV) of proximal intracranial arteries and absolute brain-tissue oxygen-saturation (TOS) in microcirculation, respectively, during hemodynamic challenge. We evaluated the potential correlation between TCD and NIRS measurements of vasomotor reactivity (VMR) in patients with carotid artery disease (CARAD). ⋯ Circulatory assessment of VMR in proximal cerebral vessels by TCD correlates positively to functional measurements of VMR in microcirculation by NIRS in CARAD patients.

Intra-arterial tenecteplase for treatment of acute ischemic stroke: feasibility and comparative outcomes.
Tenecteplase (TNK) is a third-generation thrombolytic agent. We evaluated the safety and feasibility of intra-arterial (IA) administration of TNK in patients with acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Our study demonstrates that administration of IA TNK in acute stroke is safe and results in rates of favorable outcomes that are comparable to those observed with currently used drugs. Additional studies are needed to further determine the safety and efficacy of IA TNK in acute stroke treatment.

Previous imaging studies in the Machado-Joseph disease (MJD/SCA3) have mostly concentrated on the cerebellum and brainstem. Our goal was to perform a whole brain longitudinal evaluation. ⋯ We confirmed cortical involvement in MJD/SCA3. The most important factors in predicting GMD were age and CAG. The lack of progression of atrophy may indicate floor effect and/or short duration of follow-up.

Determination of language dominance: Wada test and fMRI compared using a novel sentence task.
This study aimed to develop a new linguistic based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)-sentence decision task that reliably detects hemispheric language dominance. ⋯ The sentence task provides robust activations in putative essential language areas and can be used for visual analysis of predefined areas to facilitate interpretation of clinical fMRI.
