Improvement of vessel visibility in time-of-flight MR angiography of the brain.
To improve vessel visibility in time-of-flight MR angiography (TOF-MRA) by careful consideration of coil choice, coil position, and frequency offset and profile of the nonspatially selective chemical shift selective (CHESS) presaturation pulse. ⋯ The excitation and the nonspatially selective CHESS pulses degraded the flow signal. Our results suggest that reduced spatial extent of RF pulse application to upstream flow can improve image quality of TOF-MRA. This result can be implemented on conventional scanners.

Improvement in B1-inhomogeneity artifacts in the abdomen at 3T MR imaging using a radiofrequency cushion.
To determine the impact of a radiofrequency (RF) cushion on abdominal image quality at 3T. ⋯ The RF cushion significantly improves image quality for abdominal imaging at 3T by reducing or eliminating B1-inhomogenity artifacts. This improved image quality is seen on turbo spin echo-based T2-weighted imaging such as HASTE but does not apply to gradient echo-based T2-weighted imaging such as the true-FISP sequence.

To compare the nodule management capabilities of dynamic MRI, dynamic multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) and coregistered positron emission tomography (PET)/CT. ⋯ Dynamic MRI can play a more specific and/or accurate role for nodule management as compared with dynamic MDCT and coregistered PET/CT.

Clinical TrialContrast-enhanced timing robust acquisition order with a preparation of the longitudinal signal component (CENTRA plus) for 3D contrast-enhanced abdominal imaging.
To investigate a new image acquisition method that enables an accurate hepatic arterial phase definition and the visualization of contrast agent uptake processes in abdominal organs like liver, spleen, and pancreas. ⋯ The elliptical centric nature of the new image acquisition method effectively allows capture of the contrast enhancement processes with good fat suppression.

Comparative StudyTumor-liver contrast and subjective tumor conspicuity of respiratory-triggered T2-weighted fast spin-echo sequence compared with T2*-weighted gradient recalled-echo sequence for ferucarbotran-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of hepatic malignant tumors.
To compare respiratory-triggered T2-weighted fast spin-echo (RTT2W-FSE) and gradient T2*-weighted recalled-echo (T2*W-GRE) images for visualization of malignant hepatic tumors using ferucarbotran-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. ⋯ For ferucarbotran-enhanced MR imaging, compared to FSPGR images, RTT2W-FSE images provide greater TLC and subjective conspicuity for malignant tumors.
