Measuring T1ρ in the knee menisci can potentially be used as noninvasive biomarkers in detecting early-stage osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ 2 Technical Efficacy Stage: 1 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:824-835.

Accurate measurement of the liver iron concentration (LIC) is needed to guide iron-chelating therapy for patients with transfusional iron overload. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of automated quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) to measure the LIC. ⋯ 1 Technical Efficacy: Stage 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:725-732.

Determining the optimal postlabeling delay for arterial spin labeling using subject-specific estimates of blood velocity in the carotid artery.
Arterial spin labeling with 3D acquisition requires determining a single postlabeling delay (PLD) value. PLD affects the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) per unit time as well as quantitative cerebral blood flow (CBF) values due to its bearing on the presence of a vascular signal. ⋯ 2 Technical Efficacy: Stage 1 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:951-960.

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping as a quantitative imaging biomarker for prediction of immunohistochemical receptor status, proliferation rate, and molecular subtypes of breast cancer.
Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping is one of the most useful additional MRI parameters to improve diagnostic accuracy and is now often used in a multiparameric imaging setting for breast tumor detection and characterization. ⋯ 3 Technical Efficacy: Stage 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:836-846.

Application of neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging to characterize brain microstructural abnormalities in type-2 diabetics with mild cognitive impairment.
Diffusion-tensor-imaging (DTI) is sensitive in detecting white matter changes in type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, DTI indices can be affected by either neurite density or spatial variation. A novel diffusion MRI technique, termed neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI), can provide distinct indices of fiber density and dispersion. ⋯ 1 Technical Efficacy: Stage 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:889-898.
