[Evolution of the mortality attributable to alcohol consumption in Catalonia, 1988-1997].
To analyse the evolution of mortality attributable to alcohol (MAA) and the potential years of life lost (PYLL) due to alcohol consumption in Catalonia between 1988 and 1997. ⋯ There are gender differences in the numbers and most common causes of MAA. There was a steady drop in the number of MAA and PYLL during the period studied, basically due to the drop in deaths caused by traffic accidents. Similarly, proportional mortality dropped, drawing close to the 4% proposed in the Health Plan for Catalonia.

[Variables associated with the risk of postpartum depression. Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale].
To find some of the variables associated with values on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) which suggest postnatal depression in women living in the province of Soria. ⋯ The risk of postnatal depression was mainly related to socio-economic and family variables. Identification of these variables along with application of the EPDS after giving birth raises the alarm for a possible postnatal depression, and enables the study and follow-up in benefit of the mother and of the subsequent evolution of the new-born to be initiated.

To find the degree of clinical/pathological correlation and the number of complications, as indirect indicators of quality. ⋯ The minor surgery performed at our health centre by our team was more cost-effective than if it was performed in other public or private centres with high standards of quality.
