To evaluate the efficacy and safety of inhaled insulin. ⋯ Inhaled insulin is comparable to subcutaneous insulin in metabolic control, the number of hypoglucaemias and side-effects. However, the trials reviewed showed certain problems of internal and external validity. Studies with longer follow-up are needed, in order to evaluate possible lung disorders.

[How does intensive therapy of cardiovascular risk factors affect health-related quality of life in diabetic patients?].
To assess the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in diabetic patients who have followed a protocol of intensive treatment of cardiovascular risks (CVR). ⋯ The HRQoL in diabetic patients is not affected by intensive therapy of cardiovascular risk factors. Diabetes has a negative impact on HRQoL in the patients studied.

To assess the efficacy of spinal manipulation treatments in patients with whiplash injuries. ⋯ There is not enough evidence to suggest that spinal manipulation is an effective treatment for whiplash. Though in the short term it seems to improve pain, any long-term benefit or clinical or economic advantages versus conventional therapies could not be determined.

To validate the Cockroft-Gault and the abbreviated Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) formulas in a hypertense population aged over 60 and with blood pressure monitored in out-patients. To evaluate the prevalence of various stages of hidden chronic kidney disease in this population. ⋯ There is a high prevalence of hidden chronic kidney disease in the hypertense population over 60 years old. Glomerular filtration should be determined systematically in these patients, even when their plasma creatinine figures are normal.
