Multicenter StudyObstructive Sleep Apnea and Incident Cancer: A Large Retrospective Multicenter Clinical Cohort Study.
To examine the association between the severity of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and nocturnal hypoxemia with incident cancer. ⋯ These findings suggest the need for more targeted cancer risk awareness in individuals with OSA.

Multicenter StudyMeasured Adiposity in Relation to Head and Neck Cancer Risk in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition.
Background: Emerging evidence from cohort studies indicates that adiposity is associated with greater incidence of head and neck cancer. However, most studies have used self-reported anthropometry which is prone to error. Methods: Among 363,094 participants in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study (EPIC) with measured anthropometry, there were 837 incident cases of head and neck cancer. ⋯ Conclusions: Central adiposity, particularly among women, may have a stronger association with head and neck cancer risk than previously estimated. Impact: Strategies to reduce obesity may beneficially impact head and neck cancer incidence. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26(6); 895-904. ©2017 AACR.

Multicenter Study Meta AnalysisBody Size Indicators and Risk of Gallbladder Cancer: Pooled Analysis of Individual-Level Data from 19 Prospective Cohort Studies.
Background: There are few established risk factors for gallbladder cancer beyond gallstones. Recent studies suggest a higher risk with high body mass index (BMI), an indicator of general heaviness, but evidence from other body size measures is lacking. Methods: Associations of adult BMI, young adult BMI, height, adult weight gain, waist circumference (WC), waist-height ratio (WHtR), hip circumference (HC), and waist-hip ratio (WHR) with gallbladder cancer risk were evaluated. ⋯ Conclusions: These findings indicate that measures of overall and central excess body weight are associated with higher gallbladder cancer risks. Impact: Excess body weight is an important, and potentially preventable, gallbladder cancer risk factor. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26(4); 597-606. ©2017 AACR.

Multicenter StudyChanges in Chromatin Structure in Curettage Specimens Identifies High-Risk Patients in Endometrial Cancer.
Most endometrial carcinoma patients are diagnosed at an early stage with a good prognosis. However, a relatively low fraction with lethal disease constitutes a substantial number of patients due to the high incidence rate. Preoperative identification of patients with high risk and low risk for poor outcome is necessary to tailor treatment. Nucleotyping refers to characterization of cell nuclei by image cytometry, including the assessment of chromatin structure by nuclear texture analysis. This method is a strong prognostic marker in many cancers but has not been evaluated in preoperative curettage specimens from endometrial carcinoma. ⋯ This is the first study to evaluate the prognostic impact of Nucleotyping in curettage specimens from endometrial carcinoma and shows that this may be a clinically useful prognostic marker in endometrial cancer. External validation is warranted. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26(1); 61-67. ©2016 AACR.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyBody Mass Index and Survival in a Prospective Randomized Trial of Localized High-Risk Renal Cell Carcinoma.
The relationship between adiposity and renal cell carcinoma is poorly understood. Prior studies have suggested body mass index (BMI) may be associated with indolent disease. ⋯ This is the first study utilizing data from a prospective randomized trial reporting an association between obesity and improved overall survival for patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
