Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of the high-power pain threshold ultrasound technique in the elderly with latent myofascial trigger points: a double-blind randomized study.
The high-power pain threshold ultrasound (HPPTUS) technique has been introduced as a novel treatment method in patients with myofascial trigger points (MTrPs). The aim of the current study was to compare the therapeutic effects of HPPTUS with those of the conventional ultrasound technique in elderly patients with latent MTrPs on the upper trapezius muscles of at least 1 side. ⋯ The results indicate that the HPPTUS technique in same manner as treatment of active MTrPs is not superior to the conventional ultrasound technique in the treatment of the elderly patients with the latent MTrPs.

Review Case ReportsTransforaminal epidural steroid injection in the treatment of lumbosacral radicular pain caused by epidural lipomatosis: a case series and review.
Spinal epidural lipomatosis (SEL) can cause radicular pain due to spinal nerve root impingement. While SEL decompression surgery can provide symptom relief, these patients are often poor surgical candidates due to elevated BMI or immunosuppression. Transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) has been attempted as an alternative treatment for patients with SEL who are unable to tolerate conservative medical treatment. To date, only two such cases have been reported in the literature. ⋯ This case series suggests that TFESI can provide modest short-term symptom relief of lumbosacral radicular pain and improvement in disability caused by SEL. Further study of non-operative management of SEL is warranted, given the high risk associated with surgery in this population.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of different frequencies of conventional transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation on pressure pain threshold and tolerance.
Pulse frequency is one of the key determinants of analgesic outcomes by transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). However, optimal settings remain unclear. ⋯ These findings established that, at 150 pps conventional TENS, threshold and tolerance values were consistently higher. These results are presented to inform future research regarding optimal conventional TENS parameters and to provide support for clinical applications.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialAssessment of forward head posture in females: observational and photogrammetry methods.
There are different methods to assess forward head posture (FHP) but the accuracy and discrimination ability of these methods are not clear. ⋯ Our results showed that, craniovertebral angle method may discriminate the females with moderate-severe and non FHP more accurate than head position angle and head tilt angle. The photogrammetric method had excellent inter and intra rater reliability to assess the head and cervical posture.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyLow-level laser therapy versus ultrasound therapy in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome: a randomized clinical trial.
The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy and ultrasound therapy in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome. ⋯ The results suggest that efficacy of both treatments were comparable to each other in regarding reducing pain severity and functional disability in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome. Based on our findings, we conclude that low-level laser therapy may be considered as an effective alternative to ultrasound based therapy in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome especially ultrasound based therapy is contraindicated.
