We performed this meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of chronotherapy of hypertension with angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). ⋯ Bedtime dosing with ARBs is more effective in lowering sleep-time BP than awakening dosing in patients with essential hypertension, suggesting a utilization of chronotherapy of hypertension with ARBs to reduce sleep-time high BP. Larger multi-ethnic studies are needed to investigate the efficacy of chronotherapy of hypertension.

Hypertension can cause significant morbidity and reduced life expectancy. Most patients with hypertension have primary hypertension; however, 10 to 15% of patients have secondary hypertension. Endocrine disorders explain approximately 10% of hypertension in all patients, and thyroid disorders account for approximately 1% of cases with hypertension. ⋯ Treatment of hyperthyroidism can cure hypertension in some patients. Consequently, identification of patients with secondary hypertension potentially has important benefits, and understanding secondary hypertension provides a framework for investigating the pathophysiology of hypertension. Clinicians should consider the possibility of hyperthyroidism in patients with hypertension, even in those of more advanced age.

The impact of sex on the presentation, etiology, and outcomes of infective endocarditis (IE) has not been adequately studied. The aim of the present research was to analyze the impact of sex on the presentation, etiology, and outcomes of IE. ⋯ We found that sex may have important role in both the microbial profile and the patient's outcome with IE.

Our work aimed to identify the key differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs) (DECs) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ DECs including hsa_circ_0003028, hsa_circ_0015278, hsa_circ_0043256, hsa_circ_0049657 and hsa_circ_0074930 had diagnostic value in NSCLC. These DECs might play key roles in NSCLC pathogenesis through the mTOR signaling pathway, ErbB signaling pathway and cell cycle.
