Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a benign and self-limiting syndrome but can progress to life-threatening conditions if leave untreated. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of acetazolamide for the prophylaxis of AMS and disclose potential factors that affect the treatment effect of acetazolamide. ⋯ Acetazolamide is effective prophylaxis for the prevention of AMS in doses of 125, 250, and 375 mg/bid. Future investigations should focus on personal characteristics, disclosing the correlation between acetazolamide efficacy and body mass, height, degree of prior acclimatization, individual inborn susceptibility, and history of AMS.

COVID-19 and Acute Pulmonary Embolism: A Case Series and Brief Review.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus, or COVID-19, is responsible for the current global pandemic and has resulted in the death of over 400,000 in the United States. Rates of venous thromboembolism have been noted to be much higher in those infected with COVID-19. ⋯ We also briefly describe the pathophysiology and mechanisms for pulmonary embolism in COVID-19. These cases indicate a need to maintain a high index of suspicion for PE in patients with COVID-19, as well as the need to consider occult COVID-19 infection in patients with PE in the right clinical circumstance.

In December 2019 novel coronavirus-Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus2 (SARS-CoV2)-originated from Wuhan, China, and spread rapidly around the world. This literature review highlights the dynamic nature of COVID-19 transmission and presentation. The severity of symptoms and outcomes of COVID-19 vary based on the patient's medical background, age, sex, and concurrent medical conditions (e.g. pregnancy). This is the first review that classifies all essential points regarding COVID-19 manifestations at a glance to improve the outcome of the patients by a better insight into diagnosis and management.

Coronaviruses disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the most crucial threat, the world has ever witnessed. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the causative agent of this disease pandemic. The World Health Organization has confirmed the continuing epidemic as a worldwide public health crisis. ⋯ Studies on unveiling the natural route of COVID-19 infection and related pathophysiology, the biology of pulmonary airways pose a more rational restorative approach in the management of COVID-19. Thus, based on the existing facts, we methodically reviewed the efforts put forth by various research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology firms in pulmonary delivery to prevent and control the COVID-19. This article would be valuable for the healthcare community, which is efficiently dealing with the SARS-CoV-2 crisis.
