Fraction of Exhaled Nitric Oxide Is Elevated in Patients With Stable Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Meta-analysis.
Fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a noninvasive indicator of eosinophilic airway inflammation and has been used for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma. The levels of FeNO are controversial in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Accordingly, this study aimed to assess FeNO levels in patients with stable COPD. ⋯ Findings suggested that FeNO levels in patients with stable COPD were elevated, and that smokers exhibited decreased levels.

IVS8-5T Allele of CFTR is the Risk Factor in Chronic Pancreatitis, Especially in Idiopathic Chronic Pancreatitis.
Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator IVS8-5T gene variation appears to be associated with a higher risk of chronic pancreatitis (CP); however, there is inconsistency between previous reported studies. Here, we performed a meta-analysis to investigate this relationship. ⋯ Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator IVS8-5T is a risk factor in patients with CP. IVS8-5T variation may play a significant role in the occurrence of ICP, especially in the European population.

There is a growing interest in using programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) as a prognostic marker for melanoma. We conducted this meta-analysis to explore the prognostic and clinicopathological value of PD-L1 in melanoma. ⋯ Positive PD-L1 expression may be an important prognostic factor for longer OS in patients with metastatic melanoma.

Numerous studies have reported associations between particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters of ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) hospitalizations and mortality in cities worldwide. Nonetheless, the evidence of an association remains varied and limited. ⋯ PM2.5 is associated with COPD hospitalizations and mortality. Controlling ambient air pollution would provide benefits to COPD patients.

Prognostic Utility of Monocyte to High-Density Lipoprotein Ratio in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Meta-Analysis.
The monocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) has been used to predict adverse clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prognostic utility of MHR in patients with ACS. ⋯ Elevated MHR is independently associated with an increased risk of MACE and all-cause mortality in patients with ACS. MHR may serve as a potential prognostic indicator for ACS prognosis.
