Elevated Triglyceride-Glucose Index as a Predictor of Carotid Plaque Incidence: Insights from a Comprehensive Meta-Analysis.
Early detection of carotid plaque (CP) can help reduce the burden of ASCVD in the general population. CP and triglyceride-glucose index (TyGi) are associated with insulin resistance. ⋯ Our study indicates a higher risk of CP in patients with higher TyGi scores, underscoring its significance as a predictor for carotid atherosclerosis.

Associations between serum uric acid and breast cancer incidence: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Serum uric acid (SUA) may be involved in the development of cancer by inhibiting oxidative stress, but its relationship with breast cancer remains unclear. ⋯ High levels of SUA may reduce the risk of breast cancer in women, suggesting that SUA was a protective factor in women.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combination therapy with sodium-glucose cotransporter2(SGLT-2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) receptor agonists in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ The combination treatment of SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists effectively reduces HbA1c, FPG, and SBP without elevating the risk of hypoglycemia when compared to monotherapy with SGLT-2 inhibitors. However, these beneficial effects were not observed when the combination therapy was compared with GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment alone.

Meta-analysis of Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone Modulators Mitigating Atrial Fibrillation Risk in Hypertensive Patients.
Hypertension is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy/enlargement/fibrosis and atrial ectopic rhythm, leading to an increased risk of Atrial Fibrillation (AF). We aimed to stratify the effect of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEi) and Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB) on the risk of AF. ⋯ ACEi and ARB considerably decrease the risk of incidental and recurrent AF in hypertensive patients, emphasizing the importance of treating clinical hypertension with these drugs.

Utility of fractional excretion of urea in acute kidney injury with comparison to fractional excretion of sodium: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Differentiating between intrinsic and prerenal acute kidney injury (AKI) presents a challenge. Here, we assessed the performance of the fractional excretion of urea (FEUrea) and compared it to the fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) in distinguishing intrinsic from prerenal AKI. ⋯ FEUrea has limited utility in differentiating intrinsic from prerenal AKI. FEUrea does not provide a superior alternative to FENa, even in patients receiving diuretics.
