Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical Trial Observational StudyImplementation of an anaemia walk-in clinic: Feasibility and preliminary data from the Orthopedic University Hospital.
Approximately one in three patients suffers from preoperative anaemia. Even though haemoglobin is measured before surgery, anaemia management is not implemented in every hospital. ⋯ Preoperative anaemia is common in orthopaedic patients. Our results proved the feasibility of an anaemia walk-in clinic to manage preoperative anaemia. Furthermore, our analysis supports the use of Ret-He as an additional parameter for the diagnosis of ID in surgical patients.

Multicenter Study Clinical TrialSafety and effectiveness of a prothrombin complex concentrate in approved and off-label indications.
To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs) in approved and off-label indications. ⋯ 4F-PCC was effective as adjuvant treatment with an acceptable safety profile, not only for the emergent reversal of VKAs but also for refractory coagulopathy associated with major bleeding.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyCaplacizumab treatment for acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (HERCULES trial).
In people with acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), does caplacizumab decrease the time to normalisation of the platelet count and the risk of death and complications caused by thrombotic events and organ damage? ⋯ In adults with acquired TTP, caplacizumab decreased the time to normalisation of the platelet count and decreased the risk of TTP-related death and recurrence of TTP.

Multicenter StudyCost-effectiveness of alternative changes to a national blood collection service.
To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of changing opening times, introducing a donor health report and reducing the minimum inter-donation interval for donors attending static centres. ⋯ The introduction of a donor health report is unlikely to provide a sufficient increase in donation frequency to justify the additional costs. A more cost-effective change is to extend opening hours for blood collection at static centres.

Multicenter StudyRed blood cell transfusion in southern Finland from 2011 to 2016: a quality audit.
The current trends in RBC use and pre- and post-transfusion Hb levels were analysed to improve practice and to provide international comparison. ⋯ Consumption of RBCs has decreased despite aging population and increasing healthcare performance demands. The results indicate more rational and evidence-based RBC use. Nevertheless, the transfusion rate and pre- and post-transfusion Hb are still sufficiently high to enable more restrictive transfusion practice.
