To assess skull bone thickness from birth to skeletal maturity at different sites to provide a reference for the correct selection of pin type and pin placement according to age. ⋯ We recommend that the tip of the pin should not exceed 2-3 mm in children aged < 4, and 4 mm in children aged 4-6 years, to decrease the risk of inner table perforation. After the age of 7 years and 13 years, standard-sized pin tips (5 and 6 mm, respectively) may be safely used. Children aged < 4 years show significant variability in skull thickness, and therefore a CT scan may be required for this particular age group.

Posterior atlantoaxial fixation with screw rod forms an approximate "II" shape or "H" increasing transverse link for better stability. In order to improve stability and in consideration of difficult placement of transverse connecting rod, possibility of inadequate bone graft, some scholars have preliminarily researched biomechanics of a novel crossed rod as an approximate "X" configuration of screw rod. ⋯ The six investigated fixation methods provide sufficient biomechanical stability. The crossed rod configuration can further enhance the axial rotation stability of the screw rod system, which consists of C1 bilateral pedicle and C2 pedicle, or C2 lamina screws. The crossed rod can also improve the stability of the screw rod system made up of C1 bilateral pedicle and C2 lamina screws in lateral bending and extension. The crossed rod configuration is reliable and provides superior stability for clinical application.

Cervical radiculopathy is a common disabling cervical spine condition. Open anterior and posterior approaches are the conventional surgical treatment approaches with good clinical outcomes. However, the soft tissue damage in these procedures can lead to increase perioperative morbidity. Endoscopic spine surgery provides more soft tissue preservation than conventional approaches. We investigate the radiological and clinical outcomes of posterior endoscopic cervical foraminotomy and discectomy. ⋯ Uniportal posterior endoscopic cervical foraminotomy and discectomy are safe, efficient and precise choreographed set of technique in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy. It significantly improved clinical outcomes and achieved the objective of increasing in the cervical foramen size in our cohort of patients.

We present an organized hospital plan for the management of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients requiring emergency surgical interventions. To introduce a multidisciplinary approach for the management of COVID-19-infected patients and to report the first operated patient in the Corona unit. ⋯ The current COVID-19 pandemic requires an extra-ordinary organization of the medical and surgical care of the patients. It is possible to manage an infected or a potentially infected patient surgically, but a multidisciplinary plan is necessary to protect other patients and the medical staff.

The traditional teaching has been that proper function of a cervical disc replacement is dependent upon appropriate placement, which includes centering the device in the coronal plane. The purpose of this study was to identify the most reliable anatomical landmark for determining midline placement of an implant within the cervical disc space under fluoroscopy. ⋯ The results of this investigation suggest that the tip of the uncinate and the medial border of the pedicle are more accurate measures of midline in the cervical spine than the center of the spinous process and are less susceptible to inadvertent off-axis imaging.
