Review Meta Analysis
Does prophylactic vertebral augmentation reduce the refracture rate in osteoporotic vertebral fracture patients: a meta-analysis.
In order to prevent the recurrent fracture after vertebral augmentation, the concept of prophylactic vertebral augmentation has been proposed, but its efficacy is still controversial. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of prophylactic vertebral augmentation for prevention of refracture in osteoporotic vertebral fracture patients. ⋯ The current evidence suggested that prophylactic vertebral augmentation might not be appropriate to diminish the risk of new VCF. Therefore, there is a need to investigate the mechanism of refracture and explore other preventive regimens to reduce the risk.

This study aims to determine whether outcomes following vertebroplasty with high viscosity cement are superior to low viscosity cement and non-inferior to kyphoplasty in the setting of vertebral compression fractures. ⋯ The present network meta-analysis demonstrated that HVCV may be associated with lower risk of cement leakage among patients with VCFs as compared to other augmentation techniques. Future prospective studies will validate the findings of this analysis and further elucidate the risk of symptomatic cement leakage.

Review Meta Analysis
The association between vertebral endplate structural defects and back pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To clarify the current state of knowledge on the association of endplate structural defects and back pain. ⋯ Overall, there is moderate quality evidence of an association between back pain and endplate structural defects, which is most evident for erosion, sclerosis and Schmorl's nodes. Going forward, research on specific endplate defect phenotypes and back pain case definitions using strong study designs will be important in clarifying the extent of associations and underlying mechanisms. The study was prospectively registered in Prospero (CRD42020170835) on 02/24/2020.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Risk factors for subsequent vertebral fracture after acute osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
To investigate the incidence and characteristics of subsequent vertebral fracture after osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) and identify risk factors for subsequent vertebral fractures. ⋯ III.

Positive spinal sagittal alignment is known to correlate with pain and disability. The association between lumbar spinal stenosis and spinal sagittal alignment is less known, as is the effect of lumbar decompressive surgery on the change in that alignment. The objective was to study the evidence on the effect of lumbar decompressive surgery on sagittal spinopelvic alignment. ⋯ It appears that decompression may have a small, statistically significant but probably clinically insignificant effect on lumbar lordosis, sagittal vertical axis and pelvic tilt.
