Minimally invasive single position lateral ALIF at L5-S1 with simultaneous robot-assisted posterior fixation has technical and anatomic considerations that need further description. ⋯ Single position lateral ALIF at L5-S1 with simultaneous robotic placement of pedicle screws by a second surgeon is a safe and effective technique that improves global alignment and lordosis distribution index.

Postoperative sympathetic chain dysfunction (PSCD) was a relatively common complication after anterior lumbar interbody fusion due to the manipulation adjacent to the lumbar sympathetic chain (LSC). This study aimed to investigate the incidence of PSCD and identify its related independent risk factors after oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) surgery. ⋯ This study identified the lumbar dextroscoliosis and the "tear-drop" psoas as independent risk factors for the development of PSCD after OLIF. Spine alignment examination and the morphological identification of psoas major muscle should be highly noticed for the PSCD prevention following OLIF.

The study aimed to observe cervical intervertebral discs (IVDs) in asymptomatic subjects and to explore the factors associated with cervical intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the largest cross-sectional study using MRI-based quantitative assessment to characterize cervical IVDD in asymptomatic subjects. Cervical IVDD was shown to progress with age and significantly correlated with gender, BMI and cervical alignment. Early intervention of related factors may help delay cervical IVDD and prevent future neck and shoulder pain.

Myxopapillary ependymoma (MPE) was classified as grade 2 tumor in the 2021 World Health Organization central nervous system classification because of its high recurrence probability. This study aimed to investigate predictive factors and management of tumor recurrence. ⋯ Complete surgical resection under the premise of protecting neurological function is an important factor in reducing spinal MPE recurrence. Adjuvant RT is recommended when the tumor invades the capsule with preoperative drop metastasis or adhesion to the nerve and cannot reach GTR.
