Clinical and radiographic evolution of graduate patients treated with magnetically controlled growing rods: results of a French multicentre study of 90 patients.
The purpose of this study was to investigate patients with early-onset scoliosis (EOS) who completed their electromagnetic lengthening rod program to assess the demographics of this population and to analyze the evolution of clinical and radiological parameters and the occurrence of complications. ⋯ MCGR, allow to decrease the number of surgeries, to progressively improve the scoliotic deformity and to reach a satisfactory thoracic height at the price of an important complication rate linked in particular to the complexity of the management of patients with an EOS.

Randomized Controlled Trial
A prospective randomised controlled trial evaluating prophylactic Floseal, a gelatin and thrombin-based haemostatic matrix, in postoperative drain output and blood transfusion in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion surgery.
To evaluate the prophylactic use of Floseal in reducing postoperative blood loss in patients undergoing Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF). TLIF is a lumbar spine decompression and fusion procedure with potential for postoperative blood loss. Prophylactic application of Floseal, a gelatin and thrombin-based haemostatic matrix to the surgical wound before closure was shown to be effective in reducing postoperative drain output in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. This study postulated that prophylactic use of Floseal before wound closure would reduce postoperative blood loss in patients who underwent TLIF. ⋯ Prophylactic use of Floseal was not shown to reduce postoperative bleeding in single level or two-level TLIF.

Quantile regression-based prediction of intraoperative blood loss in patients with spinal metastases: model development and validation.
To develop and evaluate a quantile regression-based blood loss prediction model for open surgery of spinal metastases. ⋯ In this study, we developed and evaluated a prediction model for blood loss in open surgery for spinal metastases based on 0.75 quantile regression, which may minimize blood loss underestimate.

Atlas invagination through the foramen magnum: expanding the spectrum of craniovertebral junction malformations.
Malformations of the craniovertebral junction (CVJ) range from mild, asymptomatic conditions to severe forms of instability with basilar invagination. Rarely, there have been accounts of forms of so-called paramedian basilar invagination, with abnormal bone masses invading the lateral portion of the foramen magnum. All these entities have been comprehensively classified both from an anatomical and embryological standpoint. ⋯ Our report enriches the panorama of CVJ malformations, showing how anatomical knowledge and embryological insights constitute the basis for the correct assessment and treatment of these complex entities.

To analyze the clinical and radiographic characteristics of calcified thoracic disc herniation (CTDH) and explore the possible pathogeneses. ⋯ Adult CTDH is a special thoracic disc disease with insidious onset, a long course, and a high spinal canal-occupying ratio. Calcium deposits in the spinal canal originate from the nucleus pulposus. The intraoperative findings and postoperative pathology of subtypes are different, which might indicate different pathological mechanisms.
