To determine whether motion preservation following oblique cervical corpectomy (OCC) for cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) persists with serial follow-up. ⋯ Although the OCC preserves segmental and whole spine ROM, serial measurements show a progressive decrease in ROM albeit without clinical worsening. The reduction in this ROM is probably related to degenerative ossification of spinal ligaments.

Retrospective case series. ⋯ Thin-slice CT scan along the C2 pedicle direction to analysis the variations of C2 VAG can help choose an individual screw placement method (transpedicle or translaminar) with minimal complication for C2 screw fixation.

To establish the sensitivity and specificity of cross-sectional scintigraphy [single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)] combined with computed X-ray tomography (CT) in the detection of sacroiliac joint (SIJ) mechanical dysfunction and evaluate reproducibility of reporting. ⋯ Hybrid imaging with SPECT/CT reproducibly demonstrates metabolic alterations around the SIJ in patients with SIJ dysfunction, which we have termed SIJ incompetence. The condition is more common than previously recognised and frequently occurs after trauma, which has not been reported previously.

To retrospective review the clinical outcomes of the modified operative technique using a polyester suture material (Ethibond* Excel) for atlantoaxial transarticular screw fixation and posterior fusion. ⋯ We concluded that the atlantoaxial transarticular screw fixation and posterior fusion using polyester cable can be used for C1-2 fusion with a high fusion rate and less complications in various cases.

The present study was performed to establish an animal model of cervical kyphosis after laminectomy (C2-C5), and to determine the role of endplate chondrocytes apoptosis in cervical kyphosis after laminectomy. ⋯ The frequency of endplate chondrocyte apoptosis in the laminectomy group was significantly higher than in the control group, indicating that chondrocyte apoptosis may play a pivotal role in the progress of post-laminectomy cervical kyphosis.
