Postoperative recovery scores and pain management: a comparison of modified thoracolumbar interfascial plane block and quadratus lumborum block for lumbar disc herniation.
In this prospective, randomized study, we aimed to compare the global recovery scores and postoperative pain management between US-guided mTLIP block versus QLB after lumbar spine surgery. ⋯ mTLIP provided superior analgesia compared to posterior QLB. The QoR-40 scores in the mTLIP group were higher than those in the QLB group.

Postoperative quality of recovery with erector spinae plane block or thoracolumbar interfascial plane block after major spinal surgery: a randomized controlled trial.
Major spinal surgery causes severe postoperative pain. The present randomized, controlled, prospective study tested the short- and long-term effects of thoracolumbar interfascial and erector spinae plane blocks on patient-centered outcomes for major lumbar spinal surgery. ⋯ Both blocks resulted in similar quality of recovery in the postoperative 24-h period in major spinal surgery and were effective in terms of analgesia.

The C3 & C7 dome-hybrid open-door laminoplasty was proven to be an effective treatment for multi-levels cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). However, its superiority over traditional unilateral open-door laminoplasty (UOLP) remains questionable, and no studies have compared the efficacy of this technique with traditional UOLP. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of C3 & C7 dome-hybrid open-door laminoplasty with traditional UOLP in treating multi-levels CSM. ⋯ Both techniques have satisfactory outcomes in treating multi-levels CSM. Comparing with traditional UOLP, C3 & C7 dome-hybrid open-door laminoplasty has a greater superiority in reducing postoperative neck pain and maintaining the cervical sagittal alignment. It is proven to be a feasible management for patients with multi-levels CSM.

The objective of this study was to investigate the optimal entry point and pedicle camber angle for L5 pedicle screws of different canal types. ⋯ The optimal entry point for L5 is more outward than the Magerl point, and the Trefoil spinal canal L5 is more outwardly oriented than the Round spinal canal L5, with a greater angle of abduction during pedicle screw placement.

To characterize the change of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) after cervical total disc replacement (CTDR) with more than 12-year follow-up, and identify the risk factors for ASD. ⋯ After over 12-year follow-up of CTDR, the occurrence of ASD and HO had temporal synchronization. ASD was not merely a natural progression but with the pathological process such as HO.
