Treatment of bracing for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients: a meta-analysis.
A meta-analysis was conducted to compare the efficacy and safety of bracing and other treatments in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. ⋯ The findings of this meta-analysis suggested that bracing is efficient and safe for the treatment of AIS. Comparative clinical efficacy and safety of cortical bone trajectory screw fixation and traditional pedicle screw fixation in posterior lumbar fusion: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare the clinical efficacy and safety between cortical bone trajectory (CBT) and pedicle screw (PS) in posterior lumbar fusion surgery. ⋯ Both CBT and PS achieve similar, fusion rate and revision surgery rate. Furthermore, CBT is superior to PS with lower incidence of complications, shorter operation time, less blood loss, shorter incision length and shorter length of hospital stay. Antifibrinolytic agents for paediatric scoliosis surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. ⋯ This meta-analysis concludes that antifibrinolytics lead to statistically significant reductions in peri-operative blood loss, intra-operative blood loss, reduced fresh frozen plasma requirements and reduced post-operative blood loss with TXA. Is cell transplantation a reliable therapeutic strategy for spinal cord injury in clinical practice? A systematic review and meta-analysis from 22 clinical controlled trials.
It is an open question whether cell transplantation can provide safety and effective outcome to spinal cord injury (SCI) patient which has remained controversial for almost 40 years. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of cell transplantation in SCI patients. ⋯ Cell transplantation appears to be a safe therapeutic strategy possessing substantial beneficial effects in the patients with SCI in clinic. Moreover, treating SCI with stem cell, the dosage of cells between 1-5 × 107 and 10-20 × 107, in intermediate or chronic phase, minimally invasive techniques, may bring more advantage to SCI patient. Pain and disability after first-time spinal fusion for lumbar degenerative disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Lumbar spinal fusion (LSF) is frequently and increasingly used in lumbar degenerative disorders despite conflicting results and recommendations. A thorough understanding of patient outcomes after LSF is required to inform decisions regarding surgery and to improve post-surgery management. The current study aims to evaluate the course of pain and disability in patients with degenerative disorders of the lumbar spine after first-time LSF. ⋯ There is a substantial improvement in pain and disability after first-time LSF for degenerative disorders. However, long-term outcomes indicate that leg pain might be more reduced and for a longer period of time than axial back pain and disability. Registration PROSPERO CRD42015026922.
