How does vertical laminar fracture impact the decision-making in thoracolumbar fractures? A systematic scoping review and meta-analysis.
Although vertical laminar fracture (VLF) is generally considered a severity marker for thoracolumbar fractures (TLFs), its exact role in decision-making has never been established. This scoping review aims to synthesize the research on VLF's role in the decision-making of TLFs. ⋯ VLF may have several important diagnostic and therapeutic implications in managing TLFs. VLF may help to distinguish AO type A3 from A4 fractures. VLF may help to predict preoperatively the occurrence of dural laceration, thereby choosing the optimal surgical strategy. Clinical and biomechanical data suggest VLF may be a valuable modifier to guide the decision-making in burst fractures; however, more studies are needed to confirm its prognostic importance regarding treatment outcomes.

Assessing the predictive power of the GAP score on mechanical complications: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis.
The prevention of mechanical complications (MC) is a major concern in adult spinal deformity (ASD) correction surgery; thus, the global alignment and proportion (GAP) score was developed to assess MC risk. Numerous studies have clarified the validity of the GAP score, but their contradictory results have prevented researchers from reaching compelling conclusions. This study aimed to analyze the predictive power of the GAP score on MC via a meta-analysis. ⋯ The GAP score offers predictive value for the risk of mechanical complications.

How frequently MRI modifies thoracolumbar fractures' classification or decision-making? A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To provide the first meta-analysis of the impact of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on thoracolumbar fractures (TLFs) classification and decision-making. ⋯ MRI can significantly change the thoracolumbar classification and decision-making, primarily due to upgrading type A to type B fractures and changing from conservative to surgery, respectively. These findings suggest that MRI could change decision-making sufficiently to justify its use for TLFs. Type A subtypes, indeterminate PLC status, and spine regions might help to predict a change in TLFs' classification. However, more studies are needed to confirm the association of these variables with changes in treatment decisions to set the indications of MRI in neurologically intact patients with TLFs. Impact of prior spinal fusion surgery on complications and functional outcomes following total hip arthroplasty: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study aimed to compare the complication rates and functional outcomes between patients with and without a history of spinal fusion undergoing THA. ⋯ Patients with a history of spinal fusion undergoing THA exhibit increased complication rates, higher levels of pain, and greater functional limitations than those without prior fusion. These findings have significant clinical implications for optimizing perioperative care in high-risk patient populations.

Comparison of major spine navigation platforms based on key performance metrics: a meta-analysis of 16,040 screws.
The objective of this meta-analysis is to compare available computer-assisted navigation platforms by key performance metrics including pedicle screw placement accuracy, operative time, neurological complications, and blood loss. ⋯ When comparing between platforms, Stryker demonstrated the highest accuracy, and Brainlab the shortest operative time, both followed by Medtronic. No significant difference was found between platforms regarding neurologic complications or blood loss. Overall, our results demonstrated a 60% reduction in risk of major breach utilizing computer-assisted navigation, coinciding with previous studies, and supporting its validity. This study is the first to directly compare available navigation platforms offering insight for further investigation and aiding in the institutional procurement of platforms.
