ANTHROPOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS, DIETARY HABITS, SERUM LIPID AND GLUCOSE LEVELS IN RELATION TO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AMONG ADOLESCENT BOYS AND GIRLS IN CROATIA.
The aim was to determine differences in anthropometric measurements, dietary habits, serum lipid and glucose levels in relation to high blood pressure (BP) among adolescent boys and girls in Croatia. The specific aim was to determine the effect of dietary habits and lifestyle on high BP in adolescents according to sex. The study included 260 (68.2%) adolescent girls and 121 (31.8%) boys with anthropometric data obtained (without missing values) from 246 girls and 111 boys. ⋯ Girls with high BP had a significantly higher body mass index (BMI) (p=0.020), waist circumference (WC) (p=0.002), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) (p=0.016), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) (p=0.043), hip circumference (HC) (p=0.015), triglyceride (TG) levels (p=0.021), higher prevalence of unhealthy diet at school breakfast (p=0.008) and lower prevalence of eating fish (p=0.02). Boys with high BP had a significantly higher BMI (p=0.045), WC (p=0.004), WHtR (p=0.017), WHR (p=0.022) and higher prevalence of eating meat products (p=0.015). Effective health interventions are needed to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and preventing age-related illness.

THE CROATIAN HEALTH INSURANCE FUND DOES NOT RECOGNIZE DIFFERENCES IN THE COST OF DIFFERENT TREATMENTS FOR REVISION TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTY.
In recent years, there has been increased interest in the cost of treatment for revision interventions for hip and knee prostheses. In all publications so far, the authors note the high cost of treatment for revision interventions, especially if infection is present. The aim of this study was to compare the cost of treatment and health insurance reimbursements between revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) for infection and revision for aseptic indications (aseptic instability and periprosthetic fracture). ⋯ The difference between the mean total cost per patient and the mean Croatian Health Insurance Fund reimbursements was -262.83 € (-6.08%) for aseptic instability, -1694.94 € (-17.25%) for infection and -916.49 € (-17.33%) for periprosthetic fracture. The Croatian Health Insurance Fund does not recognize differences in the cost of revision THA for aseptic instability, infection and periprosthetic fracture. Health insurance reimbursement is inadequate for centers that offer revision hip surgery.

WHAT CAN WE ACTUALLY SEE USING COMPUTER AIDED DETECTION IN MAMMOGRAPHY?
The main goal of this study was to compare the results of computer aided detection (CAD) analysis in screening mammography with the results independently obtained by two radiologists for the same samples and to determine the sensitivity and specificity of CAD for breast lesions. A total of 436 mammograms were analyzed with CAD. For each screening mammogram, the changes in breast tissue recognized by CAD were compared to the interpretations of two radiologists. ⋯ CAD mainly 'mistook' glandular parenchyma, connective tissue and blood vessels for breast lesions, and blood vessel calcifications and axillary folds for microcalcifications. In this study, we confirmed CAD as an excellent tool for recognizing microcalcifications with 100% sensitivity. However, it should not be used as a stand-alone tool in breast screening mammography due to the high rate of false-positive results.

THE (A)SYMMETRY OF THE MALE GRAYING BEARD HAIRS AS AN INDICATION OF THE PROGRAMMED AGING PROCESS.
Aging interventions will be ineffective if we do not understand the basic principles of aging. Currently, there is no consensus on the issue whether aging is programmed or not. ⋯ According to stochastic theories of aging, aging is a passive non-programmed process where random dispersion of graying hairs should result. On the contrary, programmed theories of aging would predict that there should be symmetry on the left and right parts of the face showing the same proportion, pattern and time of appearance of graying hairs.

ENDOVASCULAR MANAGEMENT OF INTRACRANIAL ANEURYSMS ON DISTAL ARTERIAL BRANCHES: ILLUSTRATIVE CASE SERIES AND LITERATURE RETROSPECTION.
Intracranial aneurysms located on distal arterial branches are sporadic and scarce. They account for 2%-7% of the middle cerebral artery and 0.7%-2.3% of the posterior cerebral artery aneurysms, where they mainly arise distally from the P2-related sites. Such aneurysms usually remain asymptomatic prior to rupture, making their diagnosis and management really demanding. ⋯ We also provide a literature retrospection concerned with this rare entity. In conclusion, due to their predisposition for rupture, distal branch intracranial aneurysms should be treated early and aggressively. We do believe that endovascular selective coil occlusion is the management method of choice, while parent vessel occlusion (with liquid embolics) is optimal when aneurysmal coiling cannot be achieved, or when distal cortical territory is well vascularized by strong collateral cerebral circulation.
