The objective of this study was to assess the relationship between women's age and risk of pregnancy-related complications. The study was a retrospective cohort analysis of the pregnancy-related complications and outcomes between two age groups of parturient women. Categorical data were expressed as absolute and relative frequencies. ⋯ The rates of labor induction, oxytocin use, vaginal delivery, and need for episiotomy were higher in younger age group. Dystocia and breech presentation as indications for cesarean section were more common among younger women. According to study results, the risk of gestational diabetes and rates of cesarean delivery increased with advanced maternal age.

THE COST OF KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION AT THE MERKUR UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, ZAGREB, CROATIA.
The aim was to determine the cost of hospitalization for a transplant procedure and identify the independent variables associated with the cost of transplantation. The investigation was designed as a retrospective single-center cohort study conducted at a tertiary university hospital transplant center in Zagreb, Croatia. The study included 219 consecutive kidney recipients transplanted during the 2007-2013 period at the Merkur University Hospital. ⋯ In the bivariate analysis, the variables associated with the cost of transplantation were the length of hospital stay, delayed graft function, death of the patient, graft loss, use of steroids, and death-censored graft loss. In the multivariate analysis, delayed graft function was the only statistically significant variable for the cost of transplantation. Since only delayed graft function had an impact on the cost of transplantation in this study, certain steps such as shortening of the cold ischemia time (better organization of organ transport), better education of family members for living donors, and higher percentage of patients on peritoneal dialysis should be taken to lower the percentage of delayed graft function.

Case ReportsSPONTANEOUS RESOLUTION OF A NONFUNCTIONING PITUITARY ADENOMA OVER ONE-MONTH PERIOD: A CASE REPORT.
Spontaneous resolution of nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma after hemorrhagic apoplexy is a rare clinical entity of unknown etiology and is defined as disappearance of a tumor without any specific treatment. Here we present a 54-year-old male patient who presented with acute onset of severe headache, vomiting, photophobia, and sonophobia. He was referred to brain computed tomography, which showed a 16x12x16 mm tumor mass located in the sellar region with signs of hemorrhage. ⋯ Preoperative MRI was performed one month after the first one and disclosed normal pituitary gland without any signs of adenoma. Our case is remarkable due to the fact that spontaneous remission of pituitary adenoma occurred within the first month, which is the shortest interval reported to date. Our case highlights the importance of conservative therapy as the first-line treatment for pituitary apoplexy in the absence of neurological impairment, since spontaneous remission may occur in a short time interval.

CROATIAN VERSION OF THE QUALITY OF RECOVERY QUESTIONNAIRE (QoR-40): TRANSCULTURAL ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION.
The Quality of Recovery-40 (QoR-40) questionnaire is a psychometric instrument designed to quantify postoperative recovery. It has been translated and validated in several countries but not in Croatia. The aim was to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and validate Croatian version of the QoR-40. ⋯ Internal consistency was good for global QoR-40 score (Cronbach α=0.896), acceptable across all domains (8>α≥7). There was a significant correlation between grip strength and total QoR-40 score, pain, and physical independence, but not with other domains. In conclusion, the Croatian version of the QoR-40 has acceptable properties and can be used in the assessment of postoperative recovery in Croatian patients.
