Comparative Study
Effectiveness and student perceptions of standardized radiology clerkship lectures: a comparison between resident and attending radiologist performances.
The authors' objective in this study was to determine whether radiology residents can effectively substitute for attending radiologists in delivering standardized lectures to medical students, without a decline in student performance on examinations or perception of the clerkship lectures. ⋯ Radiology residents were as effective overall as attending radiologists at presenting standardized lecture material to medical students, with no difference in student perception of overall lecture quality or in student performance on examinations.

Regular meetings of residency program teaching faculty are required by the ACGME and support the educational mission of the department. The education committee should be viewed by the department chair and other members of the faculty as being equally important as the departmental research, operations, and finance committees. An education committee that is dedicated to promoting excellence in education and supports the educational mission of the department will enhance the department's local, regional, and national reputation.

Clinical studies are required to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of this system for interventional procedures involving needles.
