Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical TrialDacron vs. polytetrafluoroethylene grafts for femoropopliteal bypass: a prospective randomised multicentre trial.
To compare the patency of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and unsealed knitted Dacron femoro-popliteal bypasses. ⋯ PTFE and Dacron are equally suitable for femoro-popliteal bypass.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialTwo randomised and placebo-controlled studies of an oral prostacyclin analogue (Iloprost) in severe leg ischaemia. The Oral Iloprost in severe Leg Ischaemia Study Group.
Two separate studies are described using the same prostacyclin analogue in a similar group of patients. ⋯ oral Iloprost administered for a year showed no clear benefit in patients with advanced severe leg ischaemia (PAOD III and IV). The results obtained with 4 weeks' treatment in Study A and in previous trials of intravenous Iloprost could not be reproduced

Multicenter StudyICU protocol may affect the outcome of non-elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
To compare the outcome of patients undergoing non-elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair at two hospitals under the care of a single vascular surgeon. ⋯ The outcome at both hospitals is at least as good as other reported series, but it is interesting to note that the hospital which used less pulmonary artery catheters and less intervention (in the form of colloid and inotropes) showed a reduced mortality. These data may be important in assessing the different therapeutic strategies employed postoperatively in the ICU.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialLength of hospital stay following elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. U.K. Small Aneurysm Trial Participants.
To investigate factors associated with a prolonged hospital stay after elective open surgical repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm. ⋯ Conditional logistic regression analysis identified only preoperative lung function (FEV1 and FVC) and physical functioning, three intrinsically linked factors, as predictors of length of hospital stay after elective repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical TrialDesign issues of a randomised controlled clinical trial on spinal cord stimulation in critical limb ischaemia. ESES Study Group.
Review of the design of a clinical study to evaluate of the efficacy of epidural spinal cord electrical stimulation (ESES) as compared to best medical treatment in patients with nonreconstructible critical limb ischaemia. ⋯ Considering the high incidence of death and amputation, 18 months of follow-up seems adequate to detect a clinically relevant outcome improvement from ESES-treatment, if present. We hope to present the results of this study at the end of 1995.
