To compare post-operative compression with no compression, after radiofrequency endothermal ablation (RFA) of a truncal varicose vein and concomitant foam sclerotherapy of the tributaries. ⋯ After treating C2-C4 varicose veins with RFA and concomitant foam sclerotherapy, no post-operative compression was non-inferior to post-operative compression, in terms of safety and efficacy. Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effect of Remote Ischaemic Preconditioning on Arterial Stiffness in Patients Undergoing Vascular Surgery: A Randomised Clinical Trial.
The main aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of remote ischaemic preconditioning (RIPC) on arterial stiffness in patients undergoing vascular surgery. ⋯ RIPC had no significant effect on arterial stiffness, but there was significant improvement in arterial stiffness after surgery in both groups. Arterial stiffness and haemodynamics may be influenced by surgery or anaesthesia or oxidative stress or all factors combined. Further studies are needed to clarify these findings. Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA Randomised Clinical Trial of Buffered Tumescent Local Anaesthesia During Endothermal Ablation for Superficial Venous Incompetence.
Endovenous thermal ablation (EVTA) is the recommended first line intervention for superficial venous incompetence (SVI). While the infiltration of perivenous tumescent local anaesthesia (TLA) is key to procedural success, it is paradoxically the predominant source of patient reported discomfort. This randomised controlled trial investigates the potential to reduce peri-procedural pain and improve patient reported outcome measures (PROMs), including quality of life (QoL) using TLA buffered to physiological pH. ⋯ Buffered TLA offers a significantly lower peri-procedural pain experience for patients undergoing EVTA and should replace current tumescent formulae.

Randomized Controlled TrialA Randomised Clinical Trial Comparing N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate, Radiofrequency Ablation and Endovenous Laser Ablation for the Treatment of Superficial Venous Incompetence: Two Year Follow up Results.
To compare early and two year results for N-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBCA), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) in the treatment of varicose veins. ⋯ No differences were observed in occlusion rates between the three modalities, but NBCA appeared superior with respect to peri-procedural pain, return to work and decreased VCSS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyClosed Incision Negative Pressure Therapy Reduces Surgical Site Infections in Vascular Surgery: A Prospective Randomised Trial (AIMS Trial).
Surgical site infections (SSIs) of the groin remain a crucial problem in vascular surgery, prompting great interest in preventative techniques, such as closed incision negative pressure therapy (ciNPT). This prospective randomised study aimed to assess the potential benefits of ciNPT application after groin incisions for vascular surgery. ⋯ The results confirmed a reduced superficial SSI rate after vascular surgical groin incision using ciNPT compared with standard wound dressings.
