Standardised frailty indicator as predictor for postoperative delirium after vascular surgery: a prospective cohort study.
To determine whether the Groningen Frailty Indicator (GFI) has a positive predictive value for postoperative delirium (POD) after vascular surgery. ⋯ The GFI can be helpful in the early identification of POD after vascular surgery in a select group of high-risk patients.

Endovascular stent graft repair of aortic dissection type B extending to the aortic arch.
To analyse our experience with endovascular stent graft repair of descending aorta dissections that require supraaortic branch vessel revascularisation. ⋯ Endovascular stent graft methods show promise in endovascular stent graft repair of proximal descending aortic dissections involving the distal arch.

Local anaesthesia for endovascular repair of infrarenal aortic aneurysms.
The study aimed to analyse and report the results of a 'local anaesthesia first' approach in elective endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) patients. ⋯ A 'local anaesthesia first' strategy can successfully be applied in 75% of patients undergoing EVAR. The use of LA can impact imaging quality and thus precise endograft placement, which should be considered in patients with challenging aneurysm morphologies.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomised study of perioperative esmolol infusion for haemodynamic stability during major vascular surgery; rationale and design of DECREASE-XIII.
This article describes the rationale and design of the DECREASE-XIII trial, which aims to evaluate the potential of esmolol infusion, an ultra-short-acting beta-blocker, during surgery as an add-on to chronic low-dose beta-blocker therapy to maintain perioperative haemodynamic stability during major vascular surgery. ⋯ This study will provide data on the efficacy of esmolol titration in chronic beta-blocker users for tight heart-rate control and reduction of ischaemia in patients undergoing vascular surgery as well as data on safety parameters.

Validation of the chronic venous insufficiency quality of life questionnaire in Dutch patients treated for varicose veins.
The Chronic Venous Insufficiency Quality of Life Questionnaire (CIVIQ) is a disease-specific instrument to measure the impact of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) on patients' lives. The objective of this study is to test the psychometric properties of the CIVIQ, and to validate the use of the questionnaire translated into the Dutch language. ⋯ This study confirms the feasibility, validity, reliability and responsiveness of the CIVIQ in patients with varicose veins. The psychometric properties of the Dutch CIVIQ were comparable to the original French version.
