Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Endoscopic harvesting device type and outcomes in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery.
To evaluate angiographic and clinical outcomes associated with open and closed dissection tunnel endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) devices. ⋯ No differences in angiographic or clinical outcomes were observed among patients who underwent open versus closed tunnel endoscopic harvesting for coronary bypass surgery. These findings suggest that the risks associated with EVH that were reported in a previous PREVENT-IV analysis are not related to a specific EVH device.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A comparison of the effectiveness of treating those with and without the complications of superficial venous insufficiency.
To test the hypothesis that patients with soft tissue changes related to superficial venous insufficiency (SVI) have greater benefits from treatment than those with only symptomatic varicose veins. ⋯ This study suggests that rationing by clinical severity contradicts the evidence. Delaying treatment until the development of skin damage leads to a degree of irreversible morbidity and greater recurrence.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Ward simulation to improve surgical ward round performance: a randomized controlled trial of a simulation-based curriculum.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of a simulation-based curriculum for ward-based care on ward round (WR) performance. ⋯ Conducting WRs is a crucial skill but not currently subject to formal training. Implementation of a comprehensive curriculum for surgical WRs led to significant improvement in quality of patient assessment, management, and nontechnical skills. Improved WR performance may lead to earlier identification and amelioration of complications and improve patient outcomes.
