Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy in Children Younger Than 14 Years: Refuting the Concerns.
To evaluate the effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on growth in children younger than 14 years in a matched control study. ⋯ This study challenges existing concerns regarding the safety and efficacy of bariatric surgery in prepubertal children. LSG is evidently safe and effective in this age group, resulting in significant weight loss, improved growth, and resolution of comorbidities without mortality or significant morbidity.

Immediate Implant Reconstruction Is Associated With a Reduced Risk of Lymphedema Compared to Mastectomy Alone: A Prospective Cohort Study.
We sought to determine the risk of lymphedema associated with immediate breast reconstruction compared to mastectomy alone. ⋯ This prospective study suggests that in patients for whom implant-based reconstruction is available, immediate implant reconstruction does not increase the risk of lymphedema compared to mastectomy alone.

Complications After Mastectomy and Immediate Breast Reconstruction for Breast Cancer: A Claims-based Analysis.
To evaluate complications after postmastectomy breast reconstruction, particularly in the setting of adjuvant radiotherapy. ⋯ Complication risks after immediate breast reconstruction differ by approach. Radiation therapy seems to modestly increase certain risks, including infection and implant removal.

We evaluated regional access to bariatric surgery within the high-volume, center of excellence (COE) model of Ontario, Canada. ⋯ This study identified an unequal delivery of bariatric surgery within Ontario. Both longer distances and not having a bariatric facility within the same health region had significant negative effects. Further research into patient attitudes and referral patterns is required to better characterize these disparities.
