Long-term Results of a Randomized Double-blinded Prospective Trial of a Lightweight (Ultrapro) vs a Heavyweight Mesh (Prolene) in Laparoscopic Total Extraperitoneal Inguinal Hernia Repair (TULP-trial).
The aim of the randomized clinical trial was to compare the 2 years of clinical outcomes of a lightweight (Ultrapro) vs a heavyweight (Prolene) mesh for laparoscopic total extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair. ⋯ In TEP hernia surgery, there was no benefit of lightweight over heavyweight meshes observed 2 years postoperatively.

Conventional Mechanical Ventilation Versus High-frequency Oscillatory Ventilation for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia: A Randomized Clinical Trial (The VICI-trial).
To determine the optimal initial ventilation mode in congenital diaphragmatic hernia. ⋯ Our results show no statistically significant difference in the combined outcome of mortality or BPD between the 2 ventilation groups in prenatally diagnosed congenital diaphragmatic hernia infants. Other outcomes, including shorter ventilation time and lesser need of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, favored conventional ventilation.

Postoperative Showering for Clean and Clean-contaminated Wounds: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial.
To evaluate wound infection rates, pain scores, satisfaction with wound care, and wound care costs starting 48 hours after surgery. ⋯ Clean and clean-contaminated wounds can be safely showered 48 hours after surgery. Postoperative showering does not increase the risk of surgical site complications. It may increase patients' satisfaction and lower the cost of wound care.
