Tumor-infiltrating Neutrophils is Prognostic and Predictive For Postoperative Adjuvant Chemotherapy Benefit in Patients With Gastric Cancer.
This study was aimed to investigate the prognostic value of tumor-infiltrating neutrophils (TINs) and to generate a predictive model to refine postoperative risk stratification system for patients with gastric cancer. ⋯ TIN in gastric cancer was identified as an independent prognostic factor, which could be incorporated into standard TNM staging system to refine risk stratification and predict for overall survival benefit from postoperative chemotherapy in patients with gastric cancer.

The aim of this study was to establish high-quality, valid standards to improve surgical care of the older adult. ⋯ CQGS Stakeholders rated the vast majority of standards of care as highly valid (99%) and feasible (94%) for improving the quality of surgical care provided to older adults. Future work will focus on a pilot phase to better understand and address challenges to implementation of the standards.

To estimate short and long-term morbidity after pancreatic surgery for multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1)-related nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-pNETs). ⋯ MEN1 NF-pNET surgery is associated with high rates of major short and long-term complications. Current findings should be taken into account in the shared decision-making process when MEN1 NF-pNET surgery is considered.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between fresh red blood cell (RBC) transfusion and recipient survival after liver transplantation. ⋯ Our findings suggest a potential negative impact of fresh RBC transfusion on the survival of patients undergoing liver transplantation.

To present the technique for and early results of laparoscopic intragastric resection (LIGR). ⋯ We illustrate the technique of a novel, feasible, and safe minimally invasive approach to GSMTs. LIGR is an alternative to resect challenging GSMTs by limiting surgical invasiveness and preserving gastrointestinal function.
