The aim of this study was to examine the effect of surgeon-anesthesiologist sex discordance on postoperative outcomes. ⋯ We did not demonstrate an association between intraoperative surgeon and anesthesiologist sex discordance on adverse postoperative outcomes in a large patient cohort. Patients, clinicians, and administrators may be reassured that physician sex discordance in operating room teams is unlikely to clinically meaningfully affect patient outcomes after surgery.

To describe expected endoscopic and histological changes at gastro-esophageal junction (GEJ) and define diagnostic paradigms for Barrett esophagus (BE) postsleeve gastrectomy (SG). ⋯ A novel appearance of tubularized cardia telescoping supra-diaphragmatically with flattening of gastric folds is common post SG, likely associated with isobaric hyper-pressurization of proximal stomach. incidence of true BE post SG is low in short-intermediate term. These provided a clear framework for approaching endoscopic screening and surveillance, with correct anatomical and mucosal identifications, and clarified key issues of SG and BE.

To evaluate the impact of complications on long-term survival in patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma. ⋯ Cumulative postoperative complications after resection of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma only moderately deteriorate long-term survival, and should not be an argument to deny surgery in this high-risk population.

UTx is performed to address absolute uterine infertility in the presence of uterine agenesis, a nonfunctional uterus, or after a prior hysterectomy. After the initial success of UTx resulting in a livebirth (2014) in Sweden, there are over 70 reported UTx surgeries resulting in more than 40 livebirths worldwide. ⋯ This article discusses essential steps for establishment of a successful UTx program. These principles may be implemented in cis- and transgender UTx candidates.
