To evaluate whether exposure to the United States discriminatory housing practice of redlining, which occurred in over 200 cities in the 1930s, is associated with modern-day, community-level incidence of firearm injury. ⋯ Historic, discriminatory Federal policies continue to impact modern-day firearm violence. Policies aimed at reversing detrimental redlining may offer an economic means to reduce firearm violence.

Assess quality of life and mental health implications of mastectomy for breast cancer on sub-Saharan African women. ⋯ Women from Ghana and Ethiopia who underwent mastectomy experienced a decline in breast-related body image while also experiencing decreased levels of depression and anxiety.

The aim of this time-trend analysis is to estimate long-term excess mortality and associated cardiovascular risk for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) patients after elective repair while addressing the changes in AAA management and patient selection over time. ⋯ Despite changes in AAA care, patients retain a high long-term excess mortality after elective repair with a persistent high cardiovascular mortality risk. In this, a clear sex - but no age - disparity stands out.

To assess the specific results of delayed coloanal anastomosis (DCAA) in light of its 2 main indications. ⋯ DCAA makes it possible to definitively avoid a stoma in 75% of patients when mannered initially without a stoma and to save bowel continuity in 68% of the patients in the setting of failure of primary pelvic surgery.
