Does Prognostic Nutritional Index Predict Survival in Operated Papilla Vateri Tumors? A Single-centre Experience.
To determine the PNI's prognostic effect of prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on operated papilla vateri tumor (PVT) survival. ⋯ In patients with papilla vater tumors, undergoing curative surgery, PNI can play a role as an independent marker in predicting prognosis. Thoracic Mass Lesions on Imaging: Beware of Tuberculosis Cases.
Tuberculosis (TB) and thoracic malignancy mimic each other clinically, and pose diagnostic challenges. Both diseases are characterised by similar symptoms. We aimed to emphasise that some forms of TB are associated with misleading clinical and radiological manifestations. ⋯ All patients were found to have TB without evidence of malignancy and were successfully treated with standard antibiotherapy after completion of diagnostic procedures. TB should be considered as a noteworthy differential diagnosis in patients living in TB-endemic countries, and biopsy plays a vital role in correctly diagnosing TB. Therapeutic Efficacy of Erythropoietin Alpha and Erythropoietin Beta in Anemia of Chronic Kidney Disease.
To compare the effectiveness of erythropoietin alpha and erythropoietin beta in anemia management in the hemodialysis population. ⋯ Erythropoietin alpha and erythropoietin beta have similar therapeutic efficacy in anemia management in chronic kidney disease patients. Reduced dosage of erythropoietin beta achieves and maintains the target hemoglobin level. Key Words: Efficacy, Erythropoietin, Anemia, Chronic kidney disease.

Efficacy of Tranexamic Acid on Blood Loss in Thoracolumbar Spinal Fusion Surgery.
To investigate the effectiveness of topical tranexamic acid (TXA) use on bleeding and drain withdrawal time in adult patients undergoing thoracolumbar fusion surgery. ⋯ The topical use of TXA in spinal fusion surgery reduced perioperative blood loss.
