The Relationship of LDH and Hematological Parameters with Ischemic Volume and Prognosis in Cerebrovascular Disease.
To determine whether lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR) values can be used as a prediction for their relationship with stroke volume (SV) and for in-hospital mortality in stroke patients in Emergency Department (ED). ⋯ The ratios of NLR and SV stand out as practical parameters for the estimation of mortality, prognosis, and management of patients diagnosed with acute stroke. Taking into account, these parameters in the diagnosis process and prognosis management in EDs will provide convenience. Key Words: Ischemia, NLR, Stroke volume, Cerebrovasular accident, Prognosis.

Observational StudyHigh-dose Chemotherapy Response in Adults with Relapsed/Refractory Small Round Cell Tumours.
To demonstrate the treatment responses, survival analysis, and treatment-related mortality characteristics of high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) in patients with relapsed/refractory Ewing sarcoma (ES), osteosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) and medulloblastoma (MB). ⋯ HD-ICE treatment may be an option in relapsed/refractory small round cell tumours (SRCT). Significant progression-free survival can be achieved in patients who received at least two lines of treatment, with acceptable treatment-related mortality. Key Words: Small round cell tumours, Ewing sarcoma, Osteosarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma, Medulloblastoma, High-dose chemotherapy, Autologous stem cell transplantation.

Relationship among Serum Homocysteine, Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1, Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1, and Visual Impairment in Diabetic Macular Edema.
To determine the relationship among serum homocysteine (Hcy), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and visual impairment in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME). ⋯ Levels of serum Hcy, ICAM-1 and MCP-1 in patients with DR complicated with DME were higher than those without visual disability; and levels of Hcy, ICAM-1 and MCP-1 in patients with visual disability were higher than those without visual disability. In patients with DR complicated with DME, increase of these serum markers may play an important role in visual disability. Key Words: Diabetic retinopathy (DR), Diabetic macular edema (DME), Hcy, ICAM-1, MCP-1, Visual impairment.

Treatment Strategy and Safety of Eribulin in Advanced Breast Cancer.
This study sought to investigate the efficacy and safety of eribulin in advanced breast cancer patients. Eighteen patients with advanced breast cancer were retrospectively included. The previous use of taxanes, and the use of eribulin in subsequent treatment was reviewed. ⋯ Patients who have not been treated with taxanes or who have been treated with taxanes for a long response time, experience better effects when eribulin was used as subsequent treatment. Eribulin combined with anlotinib is the preferred combination therapy. Key Words: Breast cancer, Eribulin, Efficacy, Safety.

Using Pensieve: Guiding and Evaluating a Learning Session on Reflections.
The objectives of this study were to guide students on reflective essay writing, evaluate their understanding and explore the immediate impact of a well-designed session on learning of students. A 1.5-hour learning session was designed following Gagne's nine events of instruction and conducted on final year MBBS students to guide them on reflective practice and its significance. The session was evaluated by a self-designed, structured questionnaire given as a pre-test and post-test. ⋯ Five out of nine questions showed a significant effect (p <0.001) in two-tailed t-test. This learning session led to a significant improvement in understanding of students regarding role of reflective practice in modifying their future behaviour, and its role in making them a better professional. Key Words: Learning, Reflections, Satisfaction, Feedback, Written, Educational assessment, Medical students.
