Observational StudyFactors Affecting Morbidity, Mortality, and Recurrence in Incarcerated Femoral Hernia.
To ascertain the factors that govern morbidity, mortality, and recurrence in incarcerated femoral hernia. ⋯ In cases of incarcerated femoral hernia, symptoms of intestinal obstruction or signs of strangulation are more important in the development of postoperative morbidity. In addition, the probability of mortality is higher in patients who had preoperative tachycardia and in patients who underwent visceral resection. To the extent possible, regional anesthesia should be preferred in suitable cases. Key Words: Femoral hernia, Laparotomy, Morbidity, Mortality, Recurrence.

Meta AnalysisAssociation between Insulin Resistance and Cognitive Impairment.
The objective of the review was to assess the relationship between insulin resistance and cognitive impairment. Medline, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were searched. Two independent authors selected studies and extracted data. ⋯ The article showed a negative association between insulin resistance and cognition (R = - 0.262; 95% CI-0.309, - 0.215). There is evidence that insulin resistance may be a mechanism of cognitive impairment. Key Words: Insulin resistance, Insulin, Cognition, Cognitive impairment, Systematic review, Alzheimer's disease.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Fresh Gas Flow Rate on Thiol/Disulphide Hemostasis and Ischemia-modified Albumin in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
To investigate the effects of low-flow and high-flow anesthesia techniques, administered with sevoflurane during laparoscopic cholecystectomy, on thiol/disulphide homeostasis and serum ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels. ⋯ There was no difference between low-flow and high-flow anesthesia during laparoscopic cholecystectomy in terms of hemodynamics or thiol/disulphide homeostasis. Key Words: Low-flow anesthesia, High-flow anesthesia, Thiol/disulphide homeostasis, İschemia-modified albumin (IMA), Laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled TrialDoes Tamsulosin use before Ureteroscopy Increase the Success of the Operation?
To investigate the effect of preoperative tamsulosin use on the success and complications rates of ureteroscopy for ureteral stone removal. ⋯ Preoperative tamsulosin use increases the success of the operation and reduces complications. Key Words: Tamsulosin, Ureteral calculi, Ureteroscopy.

Factors Affecting Recurrence of Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis.
To investigate factors that may have an effect on recurrence by retrospectively analysing the data of patients who were followed up and treated for idiopathic granulomatous mastitis in this clinic. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that early diagnosis could prevent recurrence in patients with idiopathic granulomatous mastitis. Prospective randomised controlled studies are needed to support this thought. Key Words: Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis, Malignancy, Oral contraceptive, Steroid.
