Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is an evidence-based intervention that is well-recognised across multiple surgical specialties as having potential to lead to improved patient and hospital outcomes. Little is known about sustainability of ERAS programmes. ⋯ Improved reporting, particularly of strategies and adaptations to support sustainability is needed. Refinement of ERAS reporting guidelines should be made to facilitate this, and future implementation studies should plan to document and report changes in context and corresponding programme changes to help researchers and clinicians sustain ERAS programmes locally.

Preoperative patient education through 'joint class' has potential to improve quality of care for total joint replacement (TJR). However, no formal guidance exists regarding curriculum content, potentially resulting in inter-institutional variation. ⋯ Our synthesis identified core common topics included in pre-TJR education but also highlighted variation across institutions, supporting opportunities for standardization. Clinicians and researchers can use our preliminary model to systematically develop and evaluate 'joint classes,' with the goal of establishing a standard of care for TJR preoperative education.

There is a lack of consensus in the literature related to what is assessed clinically by physical therapists in people with neurological disorders. ⋯ Five domains were most frequently included in assessment: function; postural alignment and symmetry; gait; muscle strength; and balance. This limited number of domains is in stark contrast to the full neurological physiotherapy assessment recommended by expert textbooks. Further research is needed to understand the reasons why this might be so.
